Class History Fresh a.nd eager as freshman, we, a class of tharty nine students started our high school career in the fall of 19149 We chose as our class officers Vdllie James -lright, president, Ashton .-Jilkerson, vice president, Jimmie lee Bryant, secretary, Purvis Jackson, treasurer and Willie Iyons, chaplain We presented a comedy, The wmv to a capacity house during the school closing activities which was a huge success We were initiated by the sophomores an experience we'ILl. long remember. The sophomore year found our number somewhat dixrdnished, but we carried on joying our jgurneys into the realms of science and art We were most happy to ins tiate the freshmen- this was a lot more fun for us than it was the previous year We started the year with thirty four members For our class officers we chose Purvis Jackson, president, Ashton mlkerson, vice president, Ddllie B. Ihwk, secretary and C'UI't1S Johnson, treasurer Our class sponsor, Mrs A T Downs, worked faith- fully with us ln helping us to become adjusted ln high school tb had maxv interesting experlences during this year and could hardly wait for school to close so that we could be labeled as 'dignified juniors' Im-ing our junior year, we slaved because we wanted to give the seniors the usual Junior Senior prom in lhy We sold pies, carxh, dinners, etc as a means of mldng money. It was lots of work but it was fun too All our dreams were realized when our prom was labeled the best ever glven at Colezrmn The music was superb, the decorations were beautiful and the souvenirs were cute. Tlus most delightful memory will ever linger with us For our junior plays, we presented Sure As You're Born and Never Trust A Man At last we have come to the long awaited senior year We have continued We had one new student to join us, Edward Frazier, who has shotm himself to be well versed in mathematics Far our class officers, we chose C1n'tis Johnson, president, Betty NcCol.1ough, vice-president, Minnie Martin, secretary a.nd Earl lee Brackehs, treasurer The seniors have been outstanding an all campus affairs: basketball teamsfglrls boysl, football, dranatics, N PLA. and N F A , choir, I4 H club band, student counc11 and others Speclal awards Roosevelt W115011 won a grlze of ,115 OO Ln NFA from Southern Universlty also Earl Hackens and Cu.rt1s ohnson Now we are taking our final steps We are loo1cS.ng forward to our Bac culaureate :Ln Ihy Until today twenty two of us stand together fo the last time as a class, our battles almost ended, our much desired Victory won It is with heavy hearts we realize we shall come to the parting of the ideals, teachings, and friends we cherish so much Je ask praise for efforts, mercy for our faults and a tear for our memory as the curtain falls on this the last act of our high school life Ashton Wilkerson Purv1s Jackson Qzrtis Jokms 1 1 en- .
