1948 - HILLTOPPER - 1948 CHARLES O. COZZENS l Charles O. Cozzens was born in Southbridge, December 20, 1890 and educated in the Southbridge schools. At the time of his death on February 11, 1947, he was presi- dent of American Optical Company and one of the most important and influential fig- ures in the optical industry. His interests were always interwoven with the affairs of the community in which he lived and achieved his success . . . his ambitions were not for personal gain but for the public good. His ideas for improvement in industry were in advance of his time. The breadth of his vision and his enormous capabilities made him the recipient of wide- spread respect. The warmth of his personality and his human qualities made him be- loved by all who knew him. For his qualities of leadership, for his devotion to the principles of democracy, and for his ability to translate ideas to realities, the Cole Trade High School dedicates this book to the memory of Charles O. Cozzens, of whom Southbridge is justly proud. -2.-
