First, o new cooch wos hired ond o different style of basketball wos ployed. Second, we opened the seoson with o big win over Jackson Lumen Christi ond it helped set the rest of the seoson. Third, we finished 4th in the Twin Volley — one gome our of third place. Fourth, the attitude ond desire of the players wos very rewording ond it reflected in their constant will to improve ond wont to win. Fifth, the leadership shown by the seniors who finished the seoson (Greg, Jeff. Derek, Jody, ond Corey) will be o big lift ond help to those younger ployers in the bosketboll program. I firmly believe that the boskerboll program or C H S. is on the upswing. The assistants in the program — Terry Andress. J.V.; J. Culp, Freshman; ond B. Goodwin, 8rh grade — did on outstanding job this post seoson. If we continue to improve os much os we did this year, next yeor's spreod could be competing for 1st or 2nd place in the Twin Volley. The boys we hove coming up in the program hove done on outstanding job of working hard on their boskerboll skills ond their desire to improve. In addition, next year’s squod will be going to a ream boskerboll comp this summer ond ploying 3-on-0 on Monday nights ond having on open gym on Wednesday nights. To sum up the program. I must conclude that I om very excited obour next year ond the years to come. C H S. hos o very good coaching staff in oil sports ond boskerboll is just one piece of the entire progrom. Whor did we see? Whor ore our reflections? We sow you moke on effort to do better than you did in 1982. We sow you become more concerned for others than for yourselves. We learned rhot, in spire of your occasional complaining, school really does ploy on integral port in your lives. Most of oil. we discovered that, in each of you, there loy many tomorrows, ro be filled with the accomplishments for which yesterday wos too brief. You hove learned, you hove grown, you con be proud. • • On behalf of the 1983 CARDINAL Staff, my deepest appreciation goes our ro the following persons, groups and businesses, without whose support, the 1983 CARDINAL would not hove been possible: Bob Conway Studios,- Lee Zimmerman of Taylor Publishing Company, Dollos, Texas.- Croig Gunn,- The Coldworer Doily Reporter- Lauro Miller. As we look bock through all our years, On oil our smiles ond oil our tears. We take our friends ond keep them close, We let them know they mean the most. But now it's time to move on, you see, And be who you’ve always wonted to be. Looking bock from time to time, To remember the reason ond find the rhyme. Then we ll turn around ogoin, To moke more memories, to moke more friends. So that in our final years. We con reflect on oil the smiles ond tears.
