They beat all their Twin Valley foes and proved that individual stars are unnecessary for a championship team. They lost five key players for two weeks but pulled themselves together and won two very close and thrilling games. The Cards kept the crowd and themselves guessing who would win against Harper Creek and Marshall. The Beavers had the ball for the last five minutes inside Coldwater's 20 yardline but could not score on the staunch defense. The Marshall Redskins bombarded the Cards with an aerial attack and appeared to be heading for an upset. In the closing minutes however Coldwater's powerful offense maintained possession to thwart any ideas of a Redskin vic- tory. The Cardinals manhandled the other Twin Valley teams fairly easy and proved that they were the best around. They outscored their con- ference opponents 159 to 89. All- Conference Honors went to Pat Weitecamp, Al Dow, Steve Stan- kewicz, Larry Lewis, and Terry Bar- ringer (both ways). Honorable men- tion went to John Stokes, Dave Mar- tin, and Mike Klotz. Keep on Crutchin' Mr. Sly This year brought a new Vocal Music Director, David Sly, to replace Skip Frizzell, who accepted a position in Muskegon. Mr. Sly has many plans for the music department next year, including re-vamping the Cardinal Choir. Due to an unfortunate accident this winter, Mr. Sly can be seen hobbling down the hall on crutches. Because of his illness the CHS Annual Musical was cancelled this year. However, an all-school play, The Remarkable Incident At Carson Corners” was presented on March 16-17 to take its place. 109 Henderson, Paradine Go to State Varsity Volleyballers — Camera Shy! Opens to Otudents SEATED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: ADMINISTRATORS: W. Wade Smith, Assistant Director: Ken Strong, Co-Ordinator: John Dygert, Director: and William Stan- key, Industrial Director. The Branch Area Careers Center opened last August to Juniors and Seniors from Quincy, Bronson, and Coldwater. Built on Morse street, this extraordinary piece of architecture has been viewed by many, both out of towners and localites. Exclusive in planning, the B.A.C.C, contains a mall area, individual program departments, a restaurant, canteen, student operated store, a television studio, and audio-visual center. Tours have been frequently conducted through the Skill Center by qualified students. On these tours people view students in operation, utilizing the various tools and equipment available to them. Much money has been sunk into the tools used by stu- dents. The B.A.C.C. has been beneficial to both the students and the general public. Organizations are invited to dine in the student- operated restaurant, then use the mall area for their business meetings. A tour of the facilities often winds up the day for these groups. Students have not only learned a skill here at the Center, they have also learned to contend with the public in a working situa- tion. Students can serve the public in the restaurant run by the Foods Classes, the Child Care students provide day-care train- ing, the Auto Mechanics Classes service cars, the Graphic Arts Classes provide artwork, photography, and printing to busi- nesses and organizations. These are only a few things pupils at the center do — all under qualified supervision. If you haven’t already seen the kids at work, COME ON DOWN!!! FAR ABOVE: Counselors Hubert Hansel.
