5 BOYS AND 5 GIRLS COMPOSE TOP TEN FIRST ROW: E. Harpharn, H. Leavenworth, K. Seaman, S. Carver, S. Fuller. SECOND ROW: G. Molitor, R. Mathews, D. Lockwood, J. Rice, P. Lindner. Faculty members selected the top ten of the 1960 senior Chosen by the faculty as ideal girl and ideal boy class by utilizing a 4 point system as in the past. Points were Sharon Carver and Roger Mathews. They were are only given for full credited academic courses which selected on the basis of citizenship. Both participated in are averaged per semester. Jim Rice, Valedictor-ian jim Rice, who received a 3.9355 average under Cold- water's 4 point system, was honored as valedictorian of the senior class this year. Not only did he excel in aca- demic achievements, but also in various extracurricular activities. Included in these are debating, publications, varsity tennis, C-Club, International Relations, and Na- tional Honor Society. s ,, ,fag Y as glgwl ls, ...fm M 3231 ...sm as , .. gg'f1.'i... .ggi lll ....-mis Esther Harpham, DAR Girl 8 Dean Lockwood, Szzluzfzlorian Acknowledged as salutatorian of the class of '60 was Dean Lockwood, who earned a 3.7 average. Dean, who enjoys school athletics, participated in football, basket- ball, track, cross country, and bowling. In addition, Dean was a member of the National Honor Society, Hi-Y, 4-H, and an officer of his class. Leadership, dependability, service, and patriotism exemplify the prime characteristics of Esther Harp- ham, who was selected D.A.R. Girl by senior stu- dents and faculty members. After being chosen from a group of four senior girls for this accolade, Miss I-Iarpham was recog- nized by the Coldwater chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution as the good citizenship girl of CHS this year. Miss Harpham received a pin, a certificate, and an invitation to the state conference and local honorary program. She was also eligible for the State Good Citizen position.

SENIORS BUSY YEAR SEEMS VERY SHORT For the past four years, the Class of 6o has been working to attain the title seniors Now that they have reached their goal, they can look back on four exciting but busy years of school life, Revenue to finance such things as the senior trip and the memorial chiefly came from paper drives, leaf-rakes, spon- soring Friday Night dances, and the concession stand. A new spring project was taken into effect in the spring of 1959 when Val Hawkins came up with the idea of a car- nival. This year, Roger Mathews, president, also put this idea into effect. On March 19, the seniors enjoyed a week's trip to New Yorlg and Washington, D. C. This class is the first group to complete their four years of high school in the new building.
