957 Yearbook Portrays Community Life Under the editorship of Janice Weakly, this year's Cardinal staFF had as its prime goal, originality and a book diflierent from any of past years. The staff felt that a new color was needed for the cover, cmd that photographs inside the front and rear covers would add a great deal to the book. The staff attempted to show how the com- munity of Coldwater works together as a unit, and how each little section is important to the function of the city as a whole. The buildings and scenes portrayed in the pro- duction are an attempt to show the progress of the city both down through the years and at the present time. It is 'Felt that every room, every teacher and every convenience which the pupils of the school enioy are the direct results ofthe people of the community having G desire for fhe best l. to R: Diana Obed and Janice Weakly working on the . SUE DAVIS USING THE VARI-TYPER. Both Publications A good community is an informed com- munity, and it is the job of the publications department to keep adults and students alike supplied with the news and activities ofthe community members. Moving into the new high school brought about some organiza- tional changes and o need for better links of communication among the various elements of Cardinal Land. Almost one-tenth at the student body writes For either Cardinal Chatter or The Mirror, and staffs include all grades. The editors of the Chatter group this year began writing a column to inform and stimulate people into taking more interest in the school and its activities. Junior high news was handled by the other building. The newspaper was printed under a new process with the cooperation of Joe Petrosoft, who prints the weekly advertiser for this area. The school purchased a new machine, the Varityper, which composes all copy for the paper. Editors and staff members were linked more closely to the problems of production by carrying out all the steps in compiling a paper except the actual press printing. Back Row, L to R: D. Sager, G.
