Eagles Slow In Building Year, Drop To Eighth ln NWKL The Eagles' under the coaching of Jay McGaughey, fell to eighth in the North- west Kansas League along with Atwood. Colby lost five regulars through graduation last year, so this was a building year for the team. ln the first game of the season the Eagles downed the Atwood Buffaloes 38 to 33. Colby's hopes fell when Hoxie defeated the Eagles 65 to 56. The bad luck lasted and the next game was dropped to Norton. In the St. Francis game Boyd Evans played for W the first time sincean early football season in- jury, but Colby failed to rate the win column. The following seven games were all lost, putting Colby at the bottom of the league stand- mgs. A CCHS senior guard who was quick and full of fire was BOB BOSLER Bob played basketball fouryears but received his first letter this year Bob stands 5 f 7 in BUD EVANS one of the five junior lctterinen played guard for the third year receiving his third letter. Bud w io stands 5 ft. 10 in. was a lead- ing scorer. One more of the junior players is TOM HAMILL who has played guard for three years and re- ceived two let- ters. He stands 5 ft. 9 in. Hill SAM RAMEY also a Junior stands an even 6 ft tall This is his third year to play and he received his first letter this year as a for ward DAVE PHILLIPS, who has played basketball for three years and won two letters, plays in the position of forward. Dave is 5 ft. 11 in.
