Perhaps the highlight of the entire year for some students was the opening of the long awaited Teen Canteen. Sponsored by the Junior Women's League and located in the basement of the Overman building downtown, the canteen was not directly connected with the school, but it was appreciated by all high school and junior high students. Variety is the keynote of winter activities. New events during the winter included a Kayette sponsored baby contest and the opening of the Teen Canteen. Sports fans were given a doubly exciting treat as basketball and wrestling seasons got underway. F.F.A. and F .H.A. ended the flurry of the Christmas season's activities with the formal Snowball. il Then it was time for semester finals and school activities were subdued for a week of hard study, as students learned thethings they really need to remember. X- UQ -s 26 Winner of the Kayette sponsored baby contest was Tim Hamill. Voters made their choice by patying a penny a vote with all procee s going to CARE.
