Dee Burcham, Mary Ann Simpson, Carol Stover, Mike Mitchell, and Rebecca Iain. Mrs. Savage had been left ten million dollars by her husband, and wanted to make the best use of it, in spite of the efforts of her rown-up step- children to get their hands on it. Tie step-children commit her to a sanatorium hoping to bring her to her senses. At the sanatorium Mrs. Savage met various social misfits, but as she got to know them, she realized that she could find happiness with them because they were interested in her and not her money. Throughout the quick action of the comedy the self-seeking step-children were driven to distraction by their vain efforts to browbeat Mrs. Savage. Mrs. Savage, however, preserves her equanimity and leads the step-children in a merry chase. Her friends conspire to et rid of the in- laws, and through their simple Eelief in the justice of her cause, they enable Mrs. Savage to carry out her plans. The last scene, a farewell party, is a delightful fantasy where each guest in the sanatorium realizes at last some hopeless dream for something he was never able to realize. gy fain 3462646 CAST Florence . . This is one of the finest seasons ever experienced by the young Eagles. Their only defeat came early in the season when the Norton B team took 530-25 decision. Colby gained full revenge of this defeat later by downing the Bluejays 55-46. Jim Keller, Dee Burcham, Lynn Washburn, Lynn McClelland, Gary Hawk and Rodney Jones were the chief factors in the Eagles' success this year. The Colby Eagles had an up and down season this year as they compiled a seasons record of 13 wins and 7 defeats to gain a second place tie in the final NWKL standings. Coach 'I'om Carlson's charges got off to a good early season start with easy league victories over Oakley and St. Francis. , ' Trouble began, however, when the Eagles dropped a non-league title to the defending State Champion Russell Broncos, 53-52, and dropped two important games to Norton and Oakley respectively. The Norton title was a conference game which saw the Bluejays take a 49-47 overtime decision. The loss to Oakley came in the semi-finals of the Hoxie Toumament, 57-53. After edging Hoxie 42-40 for third place, Colby traveled to Oberlin where they dropped a 54-51 heartbreaker. After again squeezing by Hoxie, this time 39-37 on a last second shot, the Eagles journeyed to Goodland and received a 55-33 mauling from the Mustangs. Colby's luck changed, however, as they gained easy victories over Atwood, Oakley, and St. Francis. The Eagles then scored a great triumph over Norton when they nipped the homestanding NWKL champs 53-51. After dropping a 54-50 game to the Oberlin Red Devils, Colby h.it another hot streak and posted routine wins over Hoxie, Goodland, and Atwood to end the regular season. ln the opening round of District Toumament play the Eagles amassed their largest number of points per game during the season by humiliating the Atwood Buffaloes 85-37. The following evening the Eagles cooled off and bowed to Goodland in a 56-45 semi-final game. Colby closed out their 1955-56 campaign by capturing third place in the District Tourney by downing Oberlin 49-46. , gles Flo Although dropping six games to league opponents, .this year's Eagle team had the distinction of defeating every team in the conference at least once. Defend .league em daaedrge Eleven lettermen were expected to return this year to head track coach J, J. Augustyn. Heading the list of returnees were two three -year letter winners, John Cersovsky and Robert Roulier. Cersovsky was a sprinter and quarter-miler while Roulier's specialty was the half mile. Other athletes expected to help the Eagles defend their league championship were: Nelson Toburen in the dashes and the quarter mile, Dan Ertz in the hurdles and dashes, Dee Burcham in the mile, and Ron Barnett in the high jump, broad jump and dashes. Other returning lettermen were Delwyne Fechner, Lynn McClelland, Forest Kimsey, Edward Metzler, III, and Gary Bishop. Last season the Eagles pulled off a major upset by defeating Norton and Oberlin, the pre-meet favorites, in the league. Nelson Toburen scored Colby's lone first by winning the quarter mile, but the Eagles' well-balanced team came up with enough other points to win the meet. Last year Augustyn brought the team along slowly and the Eagles did not win a meet until the league. Augustyn planned to use the same pattern this season and try to get the team at the peak of condition for the league meet. The assistant coaches again this year were H, E, Randall and T. O. Carlson.
