Football x en nm: mr 1 1 Munn na 4 X lsm r 4 umm ls It XIKUIIXK l 4 1 ll i ln inn 1 4 I llllt l lllt I rll l'he Colby Flgles finished the 1935 season IH fourth place The boys showed steady improvement through out the entire season under the tutorshlp of Coach Lloyd Tavlor 'lhe chool was always proud of the boys win, loose or tie because of the splr it and spoltsmanshlp they displayed Not in one of their defeats were the boys dis tcr team There were sevelal boys who received league recognition Thcy were Pershing Bowel who was picked at right end Pershlng was one of ou1 most steady defensive players a good pa s recelvel 'md ln the Atwood game was one of the fnst who really found out Lankas wasnt so hard to get down This was Pershing s first year on the team Sun hine 'loburen was picked at the tackle Sunshine was one of Colby s mam cogs in the foiward wall His offensive blockmg and his defen ive tackling made him stand out above thc rest like un elephant on an ant h1ll He was also a steady punt F and placc klckcl Hubert Red Adams was selected for one of the half back parts Red played quartelback fo1 Colby, ard called a very good game in every one He was a vely ag f ressiwe back 'md a hard one to stop Hubert backed up the line on defense and was 1 hard one to fool This season was Red s second year on the team Bob Wlndle was selected as guald on the second team Windle tTarzan to youj has tulned in tout yeals of fine service to the team When Bob started out fo1 foot ba'l as a fre hman he was pretty dumb but mslde of two weeks he was teaching the nest how to trkc it He is a semox this year lob McNutt was given the posltlon of center on thc second team He was very tlert at center and a hard onc to move on the defense He received a finger injury at the first of thc cason and a knee bothered him sevelly however he went ahead and snapped the ball wlth one hand and put a steel biace on his knec He turned in a fmc ea on for a boy of fourteen Vance Schloedel a guard received honoiable mention Vancc played about even position on the team mcludlng guard centel and qualterback This was Docs first veal of football We all hope he will make it at Annapolis lhe other men who lettered were as follows Goldon Gibbs, tackle, Junior, Mlsner halfback SQHIOI, Gunnels halfback semoi, Damon end senior Tetwller halfback, Ju mol, Belisle halfback fleshman, Dennv halfback freshman, Loftu halfback Junior These boys did not leceive recognition flom league officials but they all constitute Col by Community High school's football team ' r. , , , I-'rout llov: ll l'sl4-.
