.lf Z lie Cfcm of 7944 You have had to put up with many things in your life at Colby which the college would gladly have spared you. First the army took a number of your classmates, then it took some of your favorite instructors, then it took over some of the buildings on the old campus. The accelerated program has left you with less leisure, the suspension of intercollegiate athletics has taken away a source of interest and amusement, and the college bus has too frequently dis- regarded your wishes when you were eager to go down town in a hurry. But you have invariably come up smiling and have taken even the walk to town in your stride. Our hats are off to you, 1944 I We know you will meet in the same buoyant spirit the tragic problems that confront your generation. We are sure that wherever you go you will align yourselves with the forces that make for honesty and tolerance. We are confident that you will stand out to the last against the ignorant and vicious tendencies that would keep our society divided against itself. We believe that your college training will help you to see through all hypocrisy and deceit and that your courage and energy will enable you to see your own purposes through. J. S. BIXLER.
