HISIIIRY We entered Colbert County I-hgh School 1n July of 1943 w1th Mr Manegg as our pr1nc1pal We went for s1x weeks and thenhad a s1x vteeks hart est 1ng vacatlon When school started aga1n1n the fall Mr Maness had res1gned and we welcomed Mr Sherrod as our pr1nc1pal M1ss Berry was our homt room teacher Thxs year the f1rst Student Counctl 1n the hxstory of thc school was orgamzed Our second year 1n h1gh school was started ln the summer w1th Mrs Bradf1eld as our home room teacher Our I..1terary Soc1et1es were re organrzed th1s year and LaFayette Soc1ety won the trophy Our th1rd year was also started ID the summer We were very happy to have Ivhss Sherrod as our home room teacher W1th the expert sponsor sh1p of M1ss Sherrod we publmshed a school paper The trophy was won by the LaGrange Soc1ety Our fourth year began wlth Mr Wann as oar pr1nc1pal Mrs Humphrres and Mrs Norman were our home room teachers Our boys had become more went on a tr1p to Mexlco C1ty Mexlco The LaGrange and LaFayette So c1et1es t1ed for the trophy thls year In 1947 we were .TUHIOTS We were aga1n very fortunate mn hav1ng M1ss Berry for our home room teacher We gave a play and sponsored a Box Supper 1n order to buy banquet mater1al and to gmve the Sen1ors a banquet We bought d1shes lxnen a cab1net for the d1shes and other th1ngs that we thought the school would need These we leave to the school for banquets and enterta1nments A serles of mlshaps h1ndered our football season We won 3 t1ed l and lost 6 games After the football season the faculty gave the football squad a banquet wh1ch was enjoyed very much In 1948 we were Sen1ors It was hard to belleve that we were the lead ers of the school Mr Hallwas pr1nc1paland we welcomed Mr Sherrod and Mrs Sherrod back to the faculty after an absence of two years Thxs year our football squad won 6 and lost 4games We were very happy to hate Ixlrs Rrley as our home room teacher We w1sh to thank Mrs R1leyfor the con s1derat1on she has shown throughout the year ID our home room She has helped to make 1ta more pleas int place to l1ve for the ent1re class interested in sports.
