Mlss Berry was our home room teacher and taught us all of our subjects except Mathemat1cs whlch was taught by Mr Sherrod We all owe a great deal to them for helpmg us get a good start xn h1gh school Mr Maness was our pr1nc1pal In 1943 we started to school 1n the summer Th1s was the f1rst t1me for school to start 1n the surnmer The reason we d1d th1s was to help the people gather the1r crops Mr Ferguson was our home roomteach Mr Sherrod was our pr1nc1pal after Mr Maness res1gned at the end of the summer term We knew a httle more about h1gh school th1s year and got along better school agaln 1n the summer Th1s year Mrs Mogxll was our home room teacher Our two SOC16t18S the La Grange and the I..a Fayette were re organ1zed th1s year We all took an actrve part 1n the Iumor Socletxes The LaFayette won the contest Some of the boys 1n our class played onthe Iumor basketball team They won fxve games and lost one We started our fourth year 1n the summer as before We had some new pup1ls added to our class who had come from other Jun1or hxgh schools Th1s was our f1rst year 1n semor h1gh For the f1rst t1me we had a cho1ce of the subjects we would take We played our f1rst football game 1n the summer Thms was the f1rst sum mer game 1nthe school slustory Mr Bxlly GCISE was our coach durlng the summer months When we opened school 1n Oct ober we had the most successful football season that we have ever had We won fmve games and lost only one The LaGrange Soc1ety won the contest th1s year Mr Sherrod re slgned at the end of the year In 1946 we were Junlors Agaxn Mlss Berry was our home room tea cher and Mr Wann was our new pr1n c1pal We gave a play and made enough money to have a splend1d J'un1or Sen1or Banquet We had apretty good football sea son w1nn1ng four t1e1ngone andlos 1ng f1ve games Mr C T Manley was our coach The La Grange and the La Fayette t1ed for the cup The students m our class who on a tmp to Mex1co Cxty Mex1co In the fall of 1947 we started our last year at Colbert I-hgh School We had the pnvxlege of gettxng Mrs R1ley as our home room teacher There are forty two graduatmg semors A ser1es Ofl'h1ShdPS hxndered our football season We won three t1ed one and lost s1x games After the football season the faculty gave the football squad a banquet wh1ch we en Joyed very much We have enjoyed our Semor year and feel that our years of our educa t1on have not been wasted er. .
