Coker is proud to have Dr. John Andral Barry, i Jr., as her new president, and we feel that we can truly A say, ‘Behold the man!” A native South Carolinian, Dr. Barry was born at Fountain Inn. He received his A.B. degree from Furman University, his Ph.M. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, His Th.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological seminary in Fort Worth. He has done graduate work at both the University of Chicago a and Yale University. In 1949 Dr. Barry became profes- sor of Philosophy at Furman, and he resigned as head of that department to come to us. Nevertheless, it is not i what lies behind our president which has won us to him, ; nor what lies before bim; it is what lies within him- —the character that has made him a scholar and a gentle- DR.
