Mrs. Ryan ...... Mr. Starkey .... s as I PURUM T--E: DEAR FACULTY Our choice of words is bad, we know-- Our humble rhymes are worse, But we're sincere in what we say To you in this short verse. We like you each and every one. You've all been swell to know, But there are one or two small things We crave before we go. It isn't much we ask of you, Not gold or jewels to horde, But, please, before we take our leave Would Miss Lees sell that Ford? And when to gym we troop one day In mood for harmless riot, Would Miss McBain just once not say Now, girls, I want it quiet ? And though it's taken four long years Our nerve has finally come. We ask Miss Smyth just once to chew One tiny piece of ........................ l Now with these few requests of ours We thank you one and all And hope you're not too glad we won't Be coming back' next fall. FACULTY BY-WCRDS Remember, people, you have a lot of work to cover. I don't have to put up with this. Miss Holleran ............ I want it quiet, or rather not so loud. Mrs. Quinn .................. All right, that's enough. Mrs. Clark .,.... Miss Tessier .... If you can't keep quiet while I'm correcting these papers, we'll work. In a sentence like this, use the subjunctive-always, always, always, always. Dr. Kenny .................. I won't excuse you again unless you follow this diet-no cake, no pie, no candy, no ice cream, no fried foods, no meat, no vegetables. If you do this, I'm sure you'll be better. Mr. Wheeler ................ No loitering in the corridors. Miss Noonan .............. Turn around in your seats, people, and mind your own business. Miss Nealand .............. I don't know-I don't know whether I can be bothered. Thirty A 11940 ---- f

THE CLASS PROPHECY It was on the Nones of March, and I was promenading along Via Columbia with my bonus amicus, Connie Ciemiega, on my way to school. As we neared the approach, we recognized one of our fellow mates, Peter Dahoda, conversing with a foreign-looking fellow. We eavesdropped on their tete-a-tete and leamed that the odd-looking individual was none other than the oracle of Delphi. We listened attentively and before we knew it we were being taken twenty years into the dark and dreary future, for the oracle was predicting to our school chum the future of the class of '40. Well, this is what we overheard: Peter:-And the crystal ball tells you that Bud Kern wrestled his way up and is now a famous wrestler, does it? Oracle:-Yes, my bonus amicus, and that isn't all that it shows. Peter:-Well, do tell me and I'll jot it down on my book in shorthand. I think it's shorthand anyway. Oracle:-Very well, listen carefully. The crystal ball of knowledge tells me that Frank Bisnett plays the leading role in the Thin Man pictures. Emmett fDocj F rament is busy taking care of the sextuplets that he brought into this world. Charles Schenk is resigned to comforts of a home and a wife. janet Dzamba spends all her spare time writing an Advice to the Lovelorn column. Helen Kosko has taken the place of Miss Dotter in the library of the school and keeps close tabs on all her former school chums' children. Matthew McCarthy is an accomplished ballroom dancer. John fSpiderJ Coonradt makes his living as a professional ballet dancer. Irene Beaupre makes personal-appearance tours, lecturing on How to Win Friends and Influence People. Connie Berdar models stockings at an exclusive New York shoppe. Ettore Gradoni is the President of the U.S. CUnited Shrimp Co.j. Doris Bethel appears on the movie magazine covers displaying her dimples. And now, we come to youg you earn your daily bread as a beauty expert advising young women. Peter:-I think that's enough information, Oracle, and we'd better stop right there and come back to 1940, for I have an engagement with my tailor, and tonight I have a date to attend a dance. Thank you very much and I hope to see you twenty years from today. X Twenty-nm
