Reflections Now that we are leaving C.C.S., it suddenly dawns on us just how much this building has sheltered us. We are leaving the guided paths of high school hallways and will enter a world of independence, opportunity, and responsibility. Some will be entering the hectic world of higher education, while others will join the competitive field of business. But whether you go to college, get a job, or join the service, the carefree days of high school are now over. The final test we face is how well we have prepared ourselves to meet the challenge of the world outside. While eager to meet these challenges, all of us are going to miss the sheltered life within this building.

In Memoriam Memories are something which may mellow but may never die. These are the kind of memories that we have of Mrs. Esther Hemmer. The memories we have of her are of a strict woman who was wonderful. Mrs. Hemmer helped many students over the largest trouble spot in their school life. Eighth Grade. The students at C.C.S. were very lucky to have such an experienced, most capable person to help them. Mrs. Hemmer taught Eight grade at C.C.S. for 25 years. She also acted as treasurer of the local Teacher’s Association and as Comptroller of the Student Activity Fund. She was a graduate of Oswego Normal School and Buffalo State Teacher’s College. There are few things that anyone can say at this time. The students lost a friend as well as a tremendous teacher. The memories of our Eighth grade teacher are ones all of us hold most precious.

Appreciation Has anyone ever stopped and realized how important it is to have a truly dedi- cated teacher? We feel that we are very lucky to have several here at Cohocton Central School, but there is one in particular that comes into our minds. His name is Mr. Dale English. He has been with us, helping us get the 11 Chieftain out in time for all the dead- lines that must be made. He listened to every one of our ideas with an open mind. Without him to answer our endless questions, we probably would never have gotten this book out on time. So, Mr. English, you know we think you are the greatest, so nothing more needs to be said except “Thank you” and our most sincere apprciations. 4
