Weir The Ski Team ended its year with good results. It took top honors in both the girls and boys individuals for the league. The boys team ended up third in the league. The team went on to send 3 people to the States and then to the Eastern Championship. 113 WINTER ACTIVITIES 115 SUGARLOAF 1999 It was New Year ' s Eve 1999, and a decade had passed since the Class of 1989 had left Cohassel High School. But, the memories of the infamous Sugarloaf ski trip were still vivid in the minds of everyone. For this reason, the ' 89 alumni gathered once again on the slopes of Sugarloaf to usher in the new century with old classmates. Under the expert guidance of Katie Ryan, the reunion was i organized in record time. The first three buses of arrivals rambled into the condo parking lot, driven by Mark Corkery, Adam Hill, and Mike Coleman, who had recently had their driving priviledges restored. Betsy Andrade, Leanne Sestito, Kendra Taylor, and Joy Mulligan im- mediately poured out, bubbling with excitement. Bill Anstead, who was unloading , seemed especially puzzled with one piece of ski equipment. What ' s this? he asked Craig Carter and Scott Flaherty. It looks like a set of skiis for a three legged man! , said Rob Abbadessa. The answer to this question was quickly put to rest by the arrival of Katie Horn and Kim Dwyer who had recently been surgically joined at the hip. Neuro surgeon Letitia Linsley was being congratulated for the successful fusion of the hips by Celeste Prisble and Sue Kesckemety who were admiring the handiwork. It looks like they were born that way! , the girls exclaimed to Letitia ' s surgical assistants, Megan Terry and Eileen O ' Connor. She was in control the whole way. , Megan proudly boasted to an awestruck clan of Tesha Wallace, Alix Ash, and Leanne Andrews. There were a few problems outside as Heather MacDonald and Jackie Lydon refused to get off the bus until the area had been thoroughly searched by Jen Powers and Amy Lincoln for any trace of Ed Leary. As late arrivals straggled in, Katie Lord, sporting the latest Dynastar Ski Wear, attempted to keep control over the boisterous crowd by means of a bull horn. After announcing the upcoming | evenings entertainment-a battle of the bands between Dennis Mulligan ' s Neo-Anthrax sound (with i backup-singers John Rhodes and Paul Marks) and the Sky Blue Cadillacs, featuring Dan Farwell, Arthur Meacham, Andrew Rossi, and Celia Mullen-Lordy joined Nancy Riley and Claudia Candia I in the hot tub. As the party started to get underway, Mike Lud stood up on a chair, raised his armsi in expectant hope, and began to express his disappointment that he couldn ' t host the party, just for old times ' sake. Things might have gotten ugly if Bouncers Extraordinare Mike Meers and Chris Froio hadn ' t taken control of the situation. Matt Buckley, after getting a perm and a collection of matching leotards, had taken over for Richard Simmons as the nation ' s leading fitness enthusiast. Presently, he was attempting to coerce housewife Katie Murphy, whose metabolism had recently caught up with her, to partake in some jazzercise. The 310 — pound Murphy eventually collapsed under the strain and had to be dragged ! out by the new heavyweight boxing champ Paul Wilson. However, Matt continued urging Work it!! Come on, two more! A bit of disturbance arose near the buffet table as John Lanata and Peter Kultrides were heatedly debating as to whose Bayliner was more expensive. Psychiatrist Jenny Lag was quick to the rescue with some soothing comments, but John insisted Oh, and I guess it wasn ' t 90 bills. Felecia Bartow, author of the bestselling novel Lunchstories was signing books for John Reidy, Pam Parker, and an especially avid fan, Amy Hobbs, who gushed I read it eight times!! Maybe nine! Felecia ' s publisher, Missy Nothnagle, stepped in and warned, Let ' s not get carried away. Sarah Bishop, the new cover girl for Wheaties, was interrogating Ned Chase about his recent centathalon victory. I had it in the bag; no one was even close , he cackled. Bish responded with a despondent Damn Snooty! aimed at Ned ' s retreating back. Everyone was pleased to see Tim Pierotti at the festivities. How long was he in jail? Amy Hyde inquired. I don ' t know ... I think it ' s been 25 years for impersonating a President. Kristin Maki answered, rolling her eyes. Fortunately, President Matt Drinkwater had dropped his grudge and managed to be civilized throughout the evening. Kristin Ellinger, PSO President, and hubby Danny Bliss were sharing some marital bliss over the punch bowl. Apparently, Danny doesn ' t know about Kristin ' s night time job as lead singer for Vixen. Jen Martin confided to Cliff Scott. Wait, I thought I saw a scrap of black leather hanging out of her skirt, Linda Henry exclaimed. A hush fell over the party as janitor Matt Kuhn began sweeping up after Pat Donovan and Abbie Barrett, who had gotten a tad out of hand and ripped down some crepe paper. As Matt drearily pushed the broom, CHS alumni shook their heads and Sue Lean, Mike Saef and Brian Curran declared in unison, And he had such potential. HEY! Nadie Zaslow suddenly cried . . . Where is Amy Sheppard? You mean Amy Idol? Erin Hunt corrected, She ' s touring with her husband Billy. But she says ' hi ' to everyone. No, I think Krista Kuhn already did that, Matt Beggan said. Meanwhile, Sean Murray, Tom Long and Dave Eno were reliving 1983 and burning up the dance floor with some of their breakdance moves. The boogying was lead by none other than Brad Gainor. Nurse Christine Rooney was present to treat any dance floor injuries. Christine ' s medical ability was put to the test as she attempted to remove foreign objects from Mike Stevens ' body-hugging GS suit. Sash Manton, Alison Crehan and Chris Flood were admiring the photo collection of Matt Fitzpatrick and Valerie Gill ' s 12 children, taken by world-famous pho- tographer Allie Redfield. Vonessa Goode ' s voice shrilled above the din as she demanded to see Jimmy Donahue ' s impressive tatoos. Jimmy fled, knocking over Missy Wetzell and Kiersten Henry, who were planning the 50th reunion at the ever familiar Jerusalem Rd. location. Chipper W 7 eier was wandering dazzedly about with his empty Buca glass in desperate search of The Master. Brian Ormiston and Laura Gagliano were disclosing plans to co-host a new children ' s show Humanitarian Ave. to an admiring group of Bill Walsh, Amanda Church and the ever-critical Jack Beddows. Jack snapped Ah ... I give it one week! and stalked away. A moment later, Cohasset Town Selectman, Jimmy Gallagher, reprimanded Mark Gentile for breaking Townie Code and skipping a Saturday night at the Legion. By this time, Matt Deveney was arm wrestilng Pete Crowley for the honor of having a picture taken with world-renouned fashion designer Sonya Butler. Across the room, Mike Figueiredo, the new Celtics manager was advising his star player Jeff Bryant to stay away from the punch bowl. Besides, Eddie McCormick already has dibs on it, Mike Suhrbier called. As the night began to wind down, Liz Hurley and Maura Atkinson were arguing with Leslie McGee as to Erin Monaghan ' s whereabouts. She ' s in Bolivia, still recovering from her re- occuring tonsilitis!. In addition, Brett Cogill was also absent due to his mysterious disappearance off the Florida Keys in 1991. Captain America, Paul Froio, was being congratulated by Sara Corbett and Steve Mig for his heroic rescue of Mike Weiglel from East Germany, as Paulo Baca strummed his guitar while gazing lovingly into Cindy Dormer ' s eyes. Jay Staunton and Allison Reilly busily scribbled down notes of the night ' s events. The former having forsaken all political and monetary ambition and the latter having closed down her lingerie boutique to pursue a journalism career. What a night! exclaimed Allison. I hope we don ' t get stuck writing the damn story at the 50th reunion! Jay concluded with a sigh.
