Text from Pages 1 - 148 of the 1986 volume:

Out of the blue on the wings of a dove A messenger comes, with the beating of drums It ' s not a message of love Our children are born, and we keep them warm They must have the right to live in the light To be safe from the storm Out of the blue, with wings on his heels A messenger comes, bearing regrets For time that he steals But steal it he will, my children ' s and mine Against our desires, against all our needs Our blood spilled like wine Over and over we call ... no one hears And further and further we fall And though we pray that we soon will awake It is clear, that it ' s no dream at all Our lives are at stake I cannot believe, nor even pretend That the thunder I hear, will just disappear And the nightmare will end So hold back the fire, because that much is true When all ' s said and done, the ending will come From out of the blue — David Gilmore DEDICATION We, the Class 01 1986, dedicate our yearbook to someone who brought us all smiles and lasting good times. He was someone who cared about his fellow classmates and was always a part of all schooTactivities. He was friendly, honest, spirited, and real. His loss touched our class so deeply that we, the Class of 1986, dedicate our yearbook to the memory of Mark L. Delaney. How well these words apply to our years together. We have known the joys of new found friends; we have known the sorrows of old friends lost too young. We have felt the companionship of the beach in August; we have felt the loneliness of the common in February. We have celebrated with our basketball team; we have mourned with members of our faculty. We now face the happiness of graduation; we now face the sadness of graduation. ' 85 119 The All School Musical Pirates of Penzance 120 A CLASS ODYSSEY it was the year 2001. One year after John Froio beat out Kelly Reilly in a landslide victory for the presidency of Fort Lauderdale. The same year Michael Greiner replaced Geraldo Rivera on 20 20. And, the year that Senator Robert Andrews passed legislation dictating that the only penalty for society ' s worst criminal offenders would now be two hours spent in a very small closet with Chris Maxim. It was a time of changing and a time of staying the same. As such, the Class of ' 86 decided to hold its first reunion. And what a reunion it was! Let ' s review the highlights! The gym looked marvelous! The decoration committee, composed of Nancy Pompeo, Ginny Nussdorfer, Wendy Blakes, and famed interior decorator, Geoff Christensen, chose the disco era as the theme for the night ' s rollicking festivities. And not a bootie was left unshaken under the glitter ball, while the in-house band, consisting of Scott Sullivan, Tommy O ' Brien and Chris Drinkwater (on tambourine), struck up Funky Town, to the delight of all. Cheryl Price remarked how lucky it was that they could break free from their Up With People gig. All seemed grand until Dan Rossi began setting up the VCR to view some of the old Skippers games, and the big screen blew up, setting Noel Ripley on fire. The much distressed Ripper ran fran- tically in to the human wall of Bill McKenna, Jamie Roy, and Jeff Trainor, to all of whom Kara Mac- Donald was teaching the hustle. Meanwhile, Wayne Lyle, wearing an especially large and colorful hat, was trying to persuade Laurie Livingstone, Kathy McGuire and Anne O ' Leary into doing a dif- ferent kind of hustle. That ' s against the law, screamed John Kornet, pointing a stray piece of apple shot from his mouth, embedding itself into an oblivious John Jackson ' s leg. Kurt Weisenfluh confided to Julie Lanata, That ' s the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Aauewahhg, asserted John Kuntz, who, after losing all his hair, had tried to have his head surgically spiked. The operation had been a horrible failure. So Melanie Walsh, Kirsten Rauhauser, and Kim Crawford agreed it was a tragedy and suggested starting a fund. James Creed, Mark Crough and Andy Starmer could not be reached for comment because they were too darned tall, but did have expressions which, according to psychoanalyst, Jim Conley, portended a great sense of loss. By this time, Noel, on the advice of Kristin Eisenstadt, had stopped, dropped and rolled, and was advised by Lee Ann Ciciotte to put some buttah on that, yah goobah. Surgeon General, Carolyn O ' Brien concurred. There was some confusion out in the parking lot, as Chad Blain, driving a beat-up Volkswagen, almost rammed into Erin Browne ' s new Porsche. The reason was apparent, as commercial airline pilot Ray McGuire pulled up in a slightly banged-up DC-10. As stewardess Terri Lloyd hopped out, she began to recount how terrorist, Linda O ' Loughlin, in full fatigues, had attempted to reroute the flight to Iowa, which Robin McAllister had annexed and now ruled as a dictator (though no one had found out about it until several months later). Luckily, Ray had thrown Linda off balance by hitting a telephone pole. Afterwards, they all forgot their differences and joined the party. At the same time, Mike White pulled up driving the island of Tanzania suspended by 1,010 helium zeppelins, inflated by Laurel Tinory, who finally had her own inert gas company. Back in the gym, literary critic Lisa Cuff was commenting to Ed Grafton on Brendan Fahy ' s new book, I Was A Puppet Master, written in exile when Brendan, along with Kurt Weisenfluh and Jacqui Fahey, spent several years in the Institute for People with H ' s in Funny Places in Their Names. Playgirl editor, Pam Ellis told Stuntman Jim Dormer she found the book almost as entertaining as Kevin Henry ' s new talk show, on which he verbally abuses the dead kittens of blind people. Meanwhile, Police Chief Julie Litchfield assured air traffic controller Leah Burbank that she could continue serving summons to casino operator, Jon Reilly until head bouncer Paul Bishop stops eating there. Associate bouncer Richard The Refrigerator Muncey and Chris The Waffle Iron Ridge were yukking it up with narcotics agent Bill Gorvine about Laurel Doherty ' s new book of lively limericks. Some other CHSers have gone on to greatness. Heather Davenport acquired an accent and went on to become a famous TV sex therapist. Joh Pereira made it big on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles N. Artist Jen Hynes gained both popular and critical acclaim with her cubist masterpiece Nude Reclin- ing On An Escalator. Moral Majority leader Ricky Lincoln was convincing Chippendale Men Steven Smith and Brian Leary that the artwork was really the devil incarnate. 122 The party really started to pick up as bartender Joe Carroll whipped up some throat-burning con- coctions using ordinary household cleaning fluids. Cathy Gorman, fresh from the set of The New Brady Bunch Show, was talking with choreographing team Greg Ferreira and John Hall about why Todd Trautwein changed his name. All licked their chops as a huge cake was wheeled in by master chef Doug Dalrymple — and all swallowed their tongues as Solid Gold dancer Annmarie Goggin popped out of it to the whistles of Jeff Aaron, Anthony Bogarty and Jeff Johnston. Give me more, shouted photographer Gail Fas- ciano as she clicked a few pics. As Annmarie demonstrated the 3rd position, Damian Wolff was showing off some positions of his own as the star of director Carine Mortiaux ' s artistic Belgian films. Film critic Darrel Horton noticed that Damian ' s performance had a singularly puckish quality to it. Cyndi Conklin arrived and announced that she had brought the continent of Africa because she had a skirt that went with it. What do you think? she asked. David Young remarked that Tunisia complemented her eyes beautifully — privately adding with a grimace to Wendy White that he could not tolerate stripes on Angola. Fashion designer Scott Patrolia shook his head in professional disapproval. Attention was suddenly turned to the collapsible pool center court into which Chris Ryan, Michelle Scully and Susan Lyons jumped, readying for the Bobbing for alumni event. A red-faced Jenny Long was first in line. Justin DeSantis, dubbed the new Pat Sajack, gave the play-by-play as frothy waves saturated Susan Johnston. Hey, what ' s your sign? Jamie Cameron whispered to Lee Sullivan, who reponded by chucking him into the punch bowl, where he met Dave Sweeney, who was on his rounds, Beth Perry hypothesized that she could determine the limit of Dave, as the party approached midnight, if she could only define the equation. In the same vein, it was found out that Maggie O ' Connor could not make it because she was still serving time for killing that precalculus teacher with a protractor. Deir- dre Deveny was still confused as to how she did it. Amy Barrow remarked to Sarah Atkinson about how Andy Glasfeld was wowing audiences everywhere by breaking his bones in alphabetical order, while Moroccan witch doctor Kevin Dunn and Father Eric Whitman were having an inter-faith war of the wits. Dave Caffery jumped into the debate by interjecting that he, himself, was now worshipped in Siam as a diety, So watch out. Outside, Eric Wagner greeted the class 1,000 feet above in his new position as a skywriter. Unfor- tunately, he misspelled 1986. The class had moved out to watch and was surprised to see Floyd Hardwick sitting on the grass dejectedly after finding out that no one in the sports world would take him seriously with such a silly nickname. As Katie Anderson consoled him, mortician Chuck you stab ' em, we slab ' em Dole, always business conscious, delicately inquired as to just how depressed he was. Chuck ' s ears perked up as he overheard Sue Barrett and Sue McMahon discussing how Chris Kirkendall was brutally trampled at a Menudo concert. Meanwhile, Michelle Stone was chat- ting under the scoreboard with Martha Driscoll, who was currently being paid $500 a night to be Joan Collins ' double on Dynasty. At the other end of the gym, referee Bob Shultz was yelling Foul, foul! after Jean Garvey blatantly attempted to fix one of his female teriaki matches at the revamped KoKo Island. And speaking of revamping, everyone was extremely happy for John Par- ziale, who had recently bleached his entire body and taken to playing evil albinos on ABC specials. Everyone was having a blast but, alas, all good things must end. Greenpeace members Peter Cooke and Capt. Bob Corkery had to go because they had night watch on the Rainbow Warrior II (and Pete had to tie-dye a suit anyway). Looks like it ' s time to go, Mike Gentile said with a head-flick. Anar- chist Dan Camardo immediately disagreed and set a tablecloth on fire. Customs inspector Larry Ash had to make it back to Logan, and the fryolator at McDonald ' s awaited the expertise of Glen Hochkeppel. As cleaning ladies Jaqui Fahey and Sandra Best began to sweep up, a few lingerers joined in for one last round of the Cohasset fight song. The lights dimmed, the voices echoed, and a changed world smiled on 1986. The world ' s last good year.
