It ' s New Year ' s Eve 1999 and the infamous class of ' 84 could think of no J better way to ring in the new century than to have a class reunion. Ginger Ralff started planning the tenth class reu-i nion the day after graduation, but since things were five years behind schedule we decided to make it the fifteenth in- stead. A unanimous vote made the beach parking lot the location for this gala event. The decorating committtee, con- sisting of Karen Hobbs, Margaret Kearney, Chrissy Hughes, and Jennifer Egan, had been hard at work for three daysi rearranging the stone wall and reconstructing fake speedbumps that had long since been removed. Nicky White and I Mike Cunning had even saved all the old trash cans so they brought those over while Tim Curran and Gerry Reed put blue light bulbs in the streetlights, and Keigh Townsend and Jody Spalt set up the bar. Wow! Look at her! said Chris Wolfe to George Schulzinsky as they watched Diane Mullen setting up the new heavy metal rock group that she had just formed with her sisters. Finally, everything was ready and Susan Ciciotte, Richele Sargent, Jen Hanlon, and Tove Osterling were the first to arrive. Meanwhile, Matt Conley was promoting the Massachusetts Communist Party in a fiery campaign speech and Chris Kuhn applauded him enthusiastically along with Mark Fasciano, Glenn Jancsics, Wayne Thomas, Philip McGee, and Mike McNeill. Leah Hale was asking Ted Carroll for a ride home to get some clothes because she thought everyone was supposed to wear bathing suits when Linton Young and Tom Jones started singing Beat It, and when Jeannie Bailey and Lilly Carbone joined in, the four of them drowned out the Mullen 4. Amidst all the noise, a piercing squeal was heard as Tammy Karcher, Debbie Soltesz, and Nina Atkinson passed Jennie Mitman, Trina Moore, and Maura Corkery as they were heading across the street to the Ladies ' Room. Meg McCullough, Sharon Gill, Beth McGuire, and Dyan Young had just challenged Flo Stanford, Catherine Smith, Hannamaija Helander, and Diane Kenney to a mud wrestling match in Little Harbor, so people drifted across the street to watch that. Things really got hopping when John Drago sprained his ankle playing a mean game of leap frog with Scott Duncombe and nurse Julie Barrett had to fix him up. At yet another scene of the rapidly growing party, Marcia Noble, Patty Messner, Sarah Gallagher, and Julie Hooge- veen were all cheering on Ronny Brown as he challenged Kip Trainor to a race against his orange bug. Mike Curley and Mike Murray were in Ronny ' s back seat, but Kip had Rodney Best, Brian Bonnar, Darrell Burgess, and Mark Mur- phy on his side as well as Debbie Schleicher, Deydania Brown, Peggy Litchfield, Sheila Scott on his side. It ' s going to be a close one predicted Bill Oliver at the start, and sure enough, It ' s a tie, declared Tim O ' Con- nor at the exciting finish. Kim Wittet and Lauren Bradley were off in a quiet corner mourning John Replogle ' s tragic death. I can ' t believe he committed suicide just because Stewart Copeland died, said Kim. Well, answered Lauren, at least now he ' s at rest. Becky Lovering and Mike Laitta were conversing rapidly in Spanish and Brendon St. John was going crazy because he couldn ' t understand what they were saying. All of a sudden, Chuck Humphreys, Chris Barrett, and Brian Ramsay began warning people that the cops had arriv- ed. The familiar flashing blues were on schedule as always. Officer Jim Lydon and Police Chief Randy Salvador got out of the cruiser and told Tony Bernius, Joe Burke, Penny Wright, and Bill McAulliffe to start cleaning the mess up. Matt White and Bill Stover started collecting empty returnables and Bob Lynch, Geoff McLoughlin, and Wes MacNeill helped them. The lights dimmed and the music faded and the party came to an end. While having a wealth of talent, the skippers were hampered by injuries all season. Lost in the pre-season were starters Lee Wilson and Troy Chatterton. This loss, coupled with several other in- juries during the season, denied the Skippers their winning year. Seniors Peter Caruso, Brett Wetzell, John O ' Connell, Chris Kuhn, Pat Leonard, Dave Barcomb, and Lee Wilson will be sorely missed next year. BOYS ' SOCCER (8-7-3) COACH: JOHN ANDERSON CAPTAINS: SCOTT DUNCOMBE, LEE REID, DAVID RISE Led by seniors Scott Duncombe, Charlie Brady, and Lee Reid, the boys soccer team posted their first winning season in three years. And with seven returning starters for next year, the team should continue its winning ways. Scott Duncombe, Matt Conley, John Replogle David Rice, and Charlie Brady will be lost to graduation. GIRLS ' FIELD HOCKEY (2-5-1 1) COACH: GINO DIGIROLAMO CAPTAINS: KATHY CORBETT, JEANNIE BAILEY, NANCY WALLS The field hockey team this year was marked by one special distinction most ites in one year (11) by a South Shore League team. Despite this, the girls managed to place fourth in the League, with only five losses. Goalie Lisa Shumaker, a freshman, proved to be the key player in the Skipper season, and was awarded an honorable mention on the all-star team.
