It ' s New Year ' s Eve 1999 and the infamous class of ' 84 could think of no J better way to ring in the new century than to have a class reunion. Ginger Ralff started planning the tenth class reu-i nion the day after graduation, but since things were five years behind schedule we decided to make it the fifteenth in- stead. A unanimous vote made the beach parking lot the location for this gala event. The decorating committtee, con- sisting of Karen Hobbs, Margaret Kearney, Chrissy Hughes, and Jennifer Egan, had been hard at work for three daysi rearranging the stone wall and reconstructing fake speedbumps that had long since been removed. Nicky White and I Mike Cunning had even saved all the old trash cans so they brought those over while Tim Curran and Gerry Reed put blue light bulbs in the streetlights, and Keigh Townsend and Jody Spalt set up the bar. Wow! Look at her! said Chris Wolfe to George Schulzinsky as they watched Diane Mullen setting up the new heavy metal rock group that she had just formed with her sisters. Finally, everything was ready and Susan Ciciotte, Richele Sargent, Jen Hanlon, and Tove Osterling were the first to arrive. As more people showed up, a crowd began to gather around Barbara Meers, Hannah Chapin, and Nancy Donahue, we were doing some old cheers with David Rice in his or ange Powder Puff wig. Kathy Branagan, Liz Pearce, Lisa Mercurio, and Jennifer Thompson were seen off in a corner telling secrets and catching up on gossip. Janney Carlson and Jeannie Baccari, recent winners of the America ' s Cup, were helping Carolyn Koopman and Ellen Candela pass out noisemakers and confetti, while Peter Daggett and John Daniels followed them with balloons. Therese Lennon was the first to spot Joe D ' Onofrio as he circled around overhead in his plane and she said to Peggy Maynard, c ' mon Peggy, let ' s be first in line to get a ride as Joe landed in the parking lot. Susan Brown, Anne Marie Buckley, Suzy Collins, and Susannah Barrett all laughed hysterically at the pictures in Julie Atkinson ' s photo album. Jesse Richards and Jeff Rhind, who were videotaping the whole scene, cut to another set. Standing around a trash can in the middle of the parking lot, David Barcomb asked Brett Wetzell, Hey Wetz, where ' s Pounder? I don ' t see him around. Brett answered, Oh, didn ' t you hear? Evan ' s in South Africa somewhere with the Peace Corps. What about Hoffman? Lee Wilson had an answer for that one. Oh, he went into the priesthood three years ago. Chris Colburn and Peter Caruso both shook their heads and said, I don ' t know what ' s happening around here. Meanwhile, Matt Conley was promoting the Massachusetts Communist Party in a fiery campaign speech and Chris Kuhn applauded him enthusiastically along with Mark Fasciano, Glenn Jancsics, Wayne Thomas, Philip McGee, and Mike McNeill. Leah Hale was asking Ted Carroll for a ride home to get some clothes because she thought everyone was supposed to wear bathing suits when Linton Young and Tom Jones started singing Beat It, and when Jeannie Bailey and Lilly Carbone joined in, the four of them drowned out the Mullen 4. Amidst all the noise, a piercing squeal was heard as Tammy Karcher, Debbie Soltesz, and Nina Atkinson passed Jennie Mitman, Trina Moore, and Maura Corkery as they were heading across the street to the Ladies ' Room. Lisa Ferreira turned to Tracy Ciciotte and said, What are they doing? as both watched Pat Leonard and Lee Reid doing sprints up and down the length of the park- ing lot. I heard they were in training and they have to do that every twenty minutes replied Lauren Smith as she fixed her make up and brushed her hair. Nuclear physicist Richard McCarthy was being advised about men ' s hair- pieces by Kevin Keller and Katie Smart and Anne Nilsson were discussing sex symbol David Ormiston ' s new movie. I still think he had blue eyes, insisted Katie. No, he wouldn ' t wear contacts to make them green, said Anne. Just then, Dartmouth ' s Dean of Admissions Jim Rooney began making his way over to a group of old hockey buddies. Stephen Perry, Charlie Brady, Stephen McMahon, Mike Basmajian, and John O ' Connell welcomed him and started singing the fifteenth verse of Hail O Hail White ' s Pond. Paul Sheppard, Doug Mantz, and Richard Tinory were listening to an old Doors tape and discussing the latest men ' s fashions when they spotted Perry Harris ' yacht out on the water. Everyone stared in awe as Perry ap- proached the beach and began setting off fireworks from the deck, but the attention was soon diverted to Kurt Hochkeppel, who had replaced Eddie Murphy on Saturday Night Live and was giving a sneak preview performance. Meg McCullough, Sharon Gill, Beth McGuire, and Dyan Young had just challenged Flo Stanford, Catherine Smith, Hannamaija Helander, and Diane Kenney to a mud wrestling match in Little Harbor, so people drifted across the street to watch that. Things really got hopping when John Drago sprained his ankle playing a mean game of leap frog with Scott Duncombe and nurse Julie Barrett had to fix him up. At yet another scene of the rapidly growing party, Marcia Noble, Patty Messner, Sarah Gallagher, and Julie Hooge- veen were all cheering on Ronny Brown as he challenged Kip Trainor to a race against his orange bug. Mike Curley and Mike Murray were in Ronny ' s back seat, but Kip had Rodney Best, Brian Bonnar, Darrell Burgess, and Mark Mur- phy on his side as well as Debbie Schleicher, Deydania Brown, Peggy Litchfield, Sheila Scott on his side. It ' s going to be a close one predicted Bill Oliver at the start, and sure enough, It ' s a tie, declared Tim O ' Con- nor at the exciting finish. Kim Wittet and Lauren Bradley were off in a quiet corner mourning John Replogle ' s tragic death. I can ' t believe he committed suicide just because Stewart Copeland died, said Kim. Well, answered Lauren, at least now he ' s at rest. Becky Lovering and Mike Laitta were conversing rapidly in Spanish and Brendon St. John was going crazy because he couldn ' t understand what they were saying. Body guards Richard Jones and Bobby Piepenbrink were nearing the finals of their arm wrestling matches against bouncers Glenn Davis and Bill Sargent and things were beginning to wind down. Jackie Plante was trying to explain to Kathy Corbett and Katee Duffy why she decided not to continue with her plans to become a chemical engineer but instead won a pink Cadillac as a result of being a successful Mary Kay salesperson. Jen Deveney bumped into Tui Mc Arthur and Nancy Walls and complimented, Hey, I saw you two in the bathing suit issue of Sports Illustrated last year. You looked great! All of a sudden, Chuck Humphreys, Chris Barrett, and Brian Ramsay began warning people that the cops had arriv- ed. The familiar flashing blues were on schedule as always. Officer Jim Lydon and Police Chief Randy Salvador got out of the cruiser and told Tony Bernius, Joe Burke, Penny Wright, and Bill McAulliffe to start cleaning the mess up. Matt White and Bill Stover started collecting empty returnables and Bob Lynch, Geoff McLoughlin, and Wes MacNeill helped them. The lights dimmed and the music faded and the party came to an end. But Cohasset will never forget the Class of ' 84 and the Class of ' 84 will never forget Cohasset. Senior 118 PALL SPORTS WRAP mm H . op FOOTBALL (2-7) COACH: JOHN LEONE CAPTAINS: BRETT WETZELL, PER TER CARUSO, LEE WILSON For the football team the season was a disappointmenting one. While having a wealth of talent, the skippers were hampered by injuries all season. Lost in the pre-season were starters Lee Wilson and Troy Chatterton. This loss, coupled with several other in- juries during the season, denied the Skippers their winning year. Seniors Peter Caruso, Brett Wetzell, John O ' Connell, Chris Kuhn, Pat Leonard, Dave Barcomb, and Lee Wilson will be sorely missed next year. BOYS ' SOCCER (8-7-3) COACH: JOHN ANDERSON CAPTAINS: SCOTT DUNCOMBE, LEE REID, DAVID RISE Led by seniors Scott Duncombe, Charlie Brady, and Lee Reid, the boys soccer team posted their first winning season in three years. And with seven returning starters for next year, the team should continue its winning ways. Scott Duncombe, Matt Conley, John Replogle David Rice, and Charlie Brady will be lost to graduation. GIRLS ' FIELD HOCKEY (2-5-1 1) COACH: GINO DIGIROLAMO CAPTAINS: KATHY CORBETT, JEANNIE BAILEY, NANCY WALLS The field hockey team this year was marked by one special distinction most ites in one year (11) by a South Shore League team. Despite this, the girls managed to place fourth in the League, with only five losses. Goalie Lisa Shumaker, a freshman, proved to be the key player in the Skipper season, and was awarded an honorable mention on the all-star team. Lost to graduation will be seniors Nancy Donahue, Jennie Mitman, Tui T MacArthur, Debbie Soltesz, Julie Atkingson, Richele Sargent, Margaret Kearney, Janney Carlson, and Jeannie Bacarri. I GIRLS ' SOCCER (7-9-2) COACH: KEN STARTSELL CAPTAINS: JANET DIGIRALAMO, AMY DUNCOMBE Led by first year coach Ken Startsell, the girls this year had a very respectable season. Consistency was a major problem for the team which was a young one, having only two seniors. With ten returning starters next year, look for the girls to be a powerhouse in the league. Graduating seniors are Kim Wittet and Ginger Ralff . CROSS COUNTRY (1-9) COACH: JOHN MIKA CAPTAIN: JULIE HOOGEVEEN Lacking sufficient number of runners this year, the cross country team had a disappointing season. The team put in a great effort however, and was led by Julie Hoogeveen. 119 WINTER SPORTS WRAP UP ICE HOCKEY (4-13-3) £v COACH: JACKIE BOWEN M CAPTAINS: JOE HOFFMAN, JOHN DRA GO $ For the hockey team this year, the season could only be called disappointing. Following in the wake of two consecutive league championships and undefeated seasons, this years skipper team completed the year with a 4-13-4 record. Inexperience in goaltending and injuries plagued the team, but despite this the skippers managed to end the season with several victories. s year was truly , BOYS ' BASKETBALL (18-2) COACH: EDDIE MINELLI CAPTAINS: DAVID BARCOMB The boys ' basketball team this year was truly an outstanding one, losing only twice in the season. Led by sophomore sensations Anthony Bogarty and James Creed, the skippers gained a berth in the state tournament. Also helping the team in its winning season were David Barcomb, Bobby Schultz, Brian Edwards, David McDonald, Chris Kuhn, John O ' Connell, and Peter Caruso. Barcomb, Kuhn, O ' Connell, and Caruso are the graduating seniors GIRLS ' BASKETBALL (13-7) COACH: BILL FALLON CAPTAINS: TRACY FITZPATRICK, JANET DIGIROLOMO 1 j . g The girls ' basketball team also had a great season, and they too won a position in the state tournament. The girls were led by Janet Digirolamo, Tracy Fitzpatrick, Sarah Seavey, and Carla Lucas. Lost to graduation are seniors Maura Corkery and Trina Moore. r GYMNASTICS (3-7) COACH: ANDREA PALARDY CAPTAIN: KATEE DUFFY Despite the loss of several important team members, the Cohasset gymnastic team managed to remain competitive. Team spirit and enthusiasm were a major aspect of this squad, and with only one graduating senior, Katee Duffy, the team has many young competitors to carry the team in the future. WRESTLING COACH: TORIN SWEENEY CAPTAINS: LEE REID AND RICK ROURKE , I Led by the undefeated Lee Reid (1211bs.) the skippers showed dramatic improvement from last year, and were competitive in all of their meets. Rick Rourke, Brian Leary, and Bill Sargent were also important members of the team.
