However, a fiasco at Rockland casued clouds to form on the horizon. Mot easily discouraged, our valliant squad, accented by the net minding of Mark Brown and John Casey ' s tenacious collision style of bodychecking, managed to stay on top. But just as Fate always prevails, so did our skippers drop a close decision to Duxbury. The league title was seemingly out of reach; but the ice chisel gang refused to die! With Mike Julian seeing more and more action, our squad managed to take away a piece of the championship. ' ' It was 2015 and John Ryan still gave pictures of himself for Christmas. There were a few minor changes in the American scheme of things, however: the national anthem was Old Wisconsin now and : anyone convicted of armed robbery was sentenced to a week in a Volvo with Justine Hoffman. President Laugelle, who left his office only for on-camera interviews and Mother Nature, was forced to reprimand the Washington Lamplight when it printed an article sen- sationalizing the fact that he called his wife mommy. Despite the pleas of Congressmen Maloney and Cunning, the House cut all I Social Security benefits and used the money to reupholster the bears at Yellowstone National Park. After repeated threats, the population was divided back up into Ethnic Groups and it could no longer enjoy the togetherness of several thousand bodies cor- ailed into the one room National Survey House. But, even as co-anchors Terry Finnegan and Larry Hoogeveen closed the evening news, the class of 1983 was gathering for a night of reminiscence and recollection. Gia Barresi was the first to arrive. She said she wanted to have plenty of time in case she didn ' t make it all the way in on the first try. With her was Liz Glasfeld, Joanna Fone, and Nancy Kuntz who recently had to give up her dating service because she wasn ' t getting enough sleep. About ten minutes later, Bev Mullaney, Katie Clinton, and Jennifer Alemian walked in with Alana O ' Brien who recently starred in the remake of the Blue Lagoon. Things had already begun to pick up by the time Don O ' Neill, Tom O ' Brien, and Bob Driscoll stumbled in. Pat Broderick was led in behind them; he was handcuffed. Rumor had it he was arrested by hospital officials in New Jersey when he persisted in sending CandyGrams to the Diabetic Ward. Bill Cuff said he knew nothing about the squad car door that was strapped to his back. Danny, O ' Brien and Danny Bowen agreed it was probably a tumor or something. At nine, the pledge was led by Den mothers Joy Pratt, Connie Delaney, and Ann O ' Connell who almost lost her six year old soni when she washed his clothes by hand and forgot to let him up for air. Carolyn Davis and Kathy Kendrick still think you ' re supposed to say amen at the end. So they did. Off in a corner, Ann Marie Laggroteria and Joy Ditmar were discussing Michael Julian ' s tragic surfing accident off the California coast. At least he went with his sun glasses on, they were saying. He would have wanted it that way, Karen Kubik added. Not far away, Ken McGrath, who had made a comfortable living modeling underwear, was saying that Kodak had no right to fire- John Keegan just because he named his new camera line Symplex II. Paul Igo agreed. Really! Can ' t a guy make a mistake? Fred Zotos demanded. You ' ve certainly made your share, Jeff Giles replied. At the same table, Sean O ' Connor was attempting to ridicule Ken Breitkruz for screaming during a college seminar. Ken respond- ed by pointing out that Sean was the only member of the class of ' 83 who asked to be out on a carrier with 5,000 other men for ninee ■months at a time. Across the room, Polly Marsh, Linda Sadler, and Elaine Mullen were playing poker with Sam Barrett who had recently bought three attack dogs and had their teeth removed. Maureen Kelley, business woman and part time mother, asked where Steve Camardo was. Maureen Buckley, who brought fun to the after school special, said he thought the party was in Boston. It is! said Susan Douglas, war correspondent for People Magazine. Oh God he ' ll never find it, responded Jay Santini. It was 1 1 by the time Jill Grant, who was something other than a cruise director, and Kristin Wilkin walked in with Mia Graham who had raised a family of five on only wheat thins. Shannon Collins, still fervently denying that he had ever neutered a cat, took it upon himself to tell them about Michael Lantz who became the first man in history to be smothered to death in his sleep by tent 128 caterpillars. Not far away, travel agent Chrissie Ralff was arguing logic with nihilists Lisa Gunville and Donna Beamon; Andy Long was discussing his degree in Donkey Basketball with leftist Pam Messner. At midnight, the ceremonies began. We are sorry to announce, began Paul Johnson and his co-host Bob Meers, that Marley Rabstejnek who was recently arrested for riding bareback in the Arbor Day Parade, will not be with us tonight. Colin Martin, Patty White followed quickly, has retreated into isolation in the New Hampshire hills after repeated accusations that he was really Daniel Webster. That ' s ridiculous! exclaimed Danny Anderson. Didn ' t he die at the Alamo? I was sure I saw him at graduation, said John Casey. Barbara MacDonald, Rhonda Whitney, and Kathy Young served from the bar as Mark DiNardo, Maria MasMarques, Peter Madge, Joe Burke, Lisa Powers, and Maryellen Maurer played volleyball. Referee Guy Martin, still wearing his Ocean Research t-shirt, said he had never seen such violence. Brian Mullaney walked in moments later with drummer producer Jim Wirth who ran a counseling clinic. They were followed by Wayne Robbins, Paul Riley, Robby Lowe, and Bill give me the money first Riley. Adam Scott greeted them at the door with Dawn McAllister whose promising acting career was cut short when she misspoke during a toothpaste commercial on national television. Suddenly, the crowd burst into applause. All eyes turned toward the door. Yes! It was screen sensation Tom Wigmore fresh from the set of Gumby the Clay Boy. Behind him came columnist Dianne Pixley and her sister Denise, Chris Winn and Keri Vallas who was fashion coordinator for the Hair Bear Bunch. Rich Evans, Mark Gunville, Amy Laue, and Caroline Kleir were asking Chris Mahoney if it was true that on his days off, he dr essed up like Teddy Roosevelt, kidnapped children, and led them in a reenactment of San Juan Hill. Dave Fahy explained that he broke both his legs when he tried to ride down three flights of stairs in a collapsible wheel chair. Three tables away, John Kuhn, Emily Glasfeld, Paul Winn, and child psychologist Tara Pompeo were sitting with Susan Collins who had become a nun. Bill Davenport, who was sent a Consumer Reports by the Dartmouth Admissions Staff, was commenting on Mark Caughey ' s touching Christmas epic The Easter Seals. Chris Peachell was exchanging witticisms with Chris J. Winn who had given up his accounting position and gone to work at a night club where he was paid $300 a night to impersonate Neil Sedaka. Susan Hobson sat down next to him wearing only an extra-large t-shirt which read Nuclear Arms Aren ' t Right and Left. Pam Faison and Donna Scott were discussing Chris Herbert ' s newest novel Life with Marilyn. Melissa Mellow said she thought his first, Real Men Can ' t Spell Quiche was much better. Susan LaVange and Sarah Whitney agreed and went and got a dictionary. Anne Koehrer and Jaime Stallard made a guest appearance that night; Bill McAuliffe was going to write but he wasn ' t allowed to have anything sharp. Actress Diann Keller, who had made a fortune doing a Broadway adaptation of one of Norman Mailer ' s more recent novels, was having a drink with Red Sox owner Beth Cogill as the lights began to flicker off.
