PATRICIA WUNSCHEL DEDICATION OP 1UIC 1 966 T AWOC Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there may be in sil- ence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful ivorld. DESIDERATA, Max Ehrmanq We, the class of 1966, dedicate our yearbook to a person who is himself dedicated. Ideally, the classroom situation reflects a never-ceasing effort by the teacher to teach and inspire and a continuing attempt by the student to learn. How- ever, this is not always the case. There are the indifferent students, and herein lies the challenge for the dedicated teacher. The teacher sows the seeds of motivation through patience and under- standing but, even more, by his sincere effort. To him, each student is an individual challenge. Soon, apathy gives way to curiosity, confusion steps aside for enlightenment, and drudgery turns to delight. Learning has taken place. At Cohasset High School, we believe that we have such a man, and we appreciatively dedicate our yearbook to you, Mr. Gino Di Girolamo. COACH DIGIROLAMO: Beat Hull ' 5 6 FRANK WUNSCHEL, JR. Chug, chug, chug, chug, CHUG Yea, we beat them! ' ' Crunch ! The 1965 girls ' field hockey team this year amassed a 2 win — 4 loss — 5 ties season. Coached by Miss Babain and captained by Carol Gates and Sue Skehan, the team stressed defen- sive play. Although beaten by Hanover, Thayer, Bridgewater-Raynham and Scituate, the team came back with victories against West Bridge- water and Norwell. The girls were part of a most unusual season. Collecting five ties against Hull, Holbrook, East Bridgewater, Duxbury, and Marshfield, the 1965 season was known as the Year of the Tie. The highlight of the season was the last game against Marshfield. With spirits running high, the game ended in a deadlock: a 1-1 tie. Marshfield then went on to beat previously undefeated Hanover. However, the tie with Cohasset kept the Marshfield team from first place. Even though the girls failed to attain a winning season, all agreed it was a lot of fun. Kneeling, lejt to right: N. From the moment I met the Whipples, my friends, and the town ' s people, I knew that this year would be unforget- table. With the help of my family, teachers, and friends, my English im- proved, and soon everything became easier. I have enjoyed this year in Co- hasset more than I thought I possibly could. I love my country, Uruguay, but now I feel part American and I hesi- tate to leave. I think that to say only thank you is insufficient to express my gratitude. I hope that I have been able to pay back just a part, if not the whole, of what I owe so many friends. party girl — Rose Anne Back home in Montevideo i My brother Enrique — work- ing for the first time! 72 With AFS ' ers in Boston ' My mother and father of Uruguay During my year in Chile I saw that life is not a new car, a college degree, or the right friends , but sincere relationships and a genuine attempt for personal and interna- tional harmony. Chile is not noted for its luxurious living or industrial interests, but instead for its kind people and untouched beauty. I would like to thank the Cohasset Chap- ter of the American Field Service and all the people of Cohasset for having made pos- sible my representation to a country rela- tively unknown to most Americans. Here it is fifteen years since I graduated from Cohasset High School. With keen anticipation I walk briskly toward the elevator of the old Prudential Tower. Class Presi- dent Middleton McGoodwin, in grey suit with vest, with Betsy Mercer at his side, stands greeting old classmates on the 52nd floor. I ' m not surprised to learn that he is a lawyer now — he ' d always had a talent for talking in circles! Vice-President Patti Calorio has two boys now and she ' s going to send them both to Boston College. Even though Dave is meeting with Rochester Alumni in New York, Kathy Jackman, Class Secretary, is with us tonight. I ' d heard treasurer Deborah Casey taught math at Cohasset High before she was married. Moving through the crowd I ' ve spotted the Big Six sit- ting at the round table dis- cussing — what else — nights as always. Vincent Nardo makes a toast to Dennis Libby, proud father of nine boys. The sight of the Cleveland Browns and Craig Muir, brought back memories of that victory over Hull in 1965. John Marsh, between spasms of laughter, is trying to sell one of his Fords at Dudley Motors, to Robert Jackson, President of TWA. Bob insists that with his jets, who needs a Ford ! Actor Paul Verrochi left his seat on What ' s My Line to be at our reunion, and is pres- ently surrounded by auto- graph seekers and old friends like artist Kathy Elliot. The reason I never tune in to Paul ' s show is that Tom Cord- dry ' s Puns for all Ages shares, the same time. In a paisley ascot, linen shirt, and tweed jacket, Bob Hall stands casually discussing the powder blue interior of his Rolls Royce with Carol Gates, cura- tor of an antique car museum in New York. Incidentally Bob made his millions as man- ager and substitute lead sing- er for the Stones. Craig Sim- eone, Ralph Fisher, Richard Smullen, and Danny McCIary, dressed in black leather jack- ets, have parked their Harley ' s in the lobby. This is an ad- vertising gimmick for Angel jackets, soon to be put on the market. Our other class artist, Paul Smith, works for the Ed Roth Auto Syndicate drawing eerie drag-monsters on t-shirts. Edward Harkness, now owner of Taylor Publish- ing Company in Cohasset for yearbook publications, is ob- viously trying to make a deal with Brian Sawchuk of Botch Tape Inc. Secretaries Donna Nardo and Linda McWilliams are standing in bewilderment as Heather Gillespie and Rose- anne Lenchweski converse in Spanish about Latin American affairs. Donna Flint, Anne. Wiggins, and Pam Pattyson tell me that they have opened a Bergson ' s on Fifth Avenue so they can eat lunch in style. Max Factor hasn ' t been the same since Anna hit NYC. The hat check girl, Miss Burke, is counting the suede caps worn by the old Out Crowd — Billy Mulhern, Bil- ly Donovan, Postmaster, Al- len Keating, Pilot Joyce, and Justin Joseph. They have opened a self-service store across the street from Simon ' s. Mark Salvador ' s Lobster Com- pany keeps his fleet busy. Gretchen Baker and the Cogill brothers are still living the rustic life in Beechwood, one of the last areas of the South Shore with country atmosphere. Suzanne Cogill and Dotty Damon are married and are living in the big city, metropolitan Cohasset. Barbara Phippen and MaryAnn Bailey are just leaving for a rehearsal at Symphony Hall. Mrs. Phipps must be very proud of her girls. I found Dr. Doreen Reese and Karen Kiley, R.N., discussing hospital experiences with Debbie Dolan, head nurse at Mass. General. A small explosion causes a moment of alarm. Brad Royer is experimenting with freshly made firecrackers in the punch bowl. Advertising consultant Cristopher Butler can ' t help giving Brad a beastly look. Bill Hobbs and Mike Savage have handed me their best seller — Is i.omework a Necessity . Teachers Rachel Bates and Sue Skehan have been in heated arguments with the co-authors most of the evening. Casual conversation has reached mild chaos, disturbing placid industrialists Mark Aroner, Joe Fitzpatrick, and Kevin O ' Brien. If only the top of the Hub used the trio ' s acoustical system which insures com- plete silence. While Marc mumbles his silent guarantee, Joe quietly takes an order for 50 sq. yds. from florist Rose- marie Sestito. She reveals to us that her secret of raising the best flowers is to grow them in peace and quiet. Mark Reardon, mild mannered reporter for a large metropolitan newspaper, is in Sarasota, Florida, covering the National Horse Show. Classmates Sally Jenks and Martha Ingram are there taking advantage of the southern hos- pitality while showing their prize horses. June Rautiala, Jane McCarthy, Barbara Stoddard and Judy Marks jointly own the A P on 3A. Bill Rhodes and Larry James have had hoards of customers at their gas station since Polly Malley, Betsy Fink, and Maureen Green built a hotel near the site of Hugo ' s Shack. It ' s called the Fink Hilton, I believe. Jean Burgess, noted for her gay parties in Manhattan, slips through the crowd in a satin sheath. She is no doubt getting the latest fashion news from ex-models Julie Lawlor and Betty Colpitts or laughing about old times at U. of North Carolina with college classmate Nancy Whipple. Linda Allen, Cindy Flanagan, and Valerie Morri- son are sitting at the far table listening to Sue Boyt ' s experiences as wife of an all-America football star. Peter and Paul Coletti and John Isabelle are coaching a new breed of Olympic track stars that are running the mile in under three minutes, according to Vic Pimentel, CBS sportscaster. Captain Ben Hagan is dressed in his uniform and talk- ing with Rod Martin, a partner in the Charles Atlas Body Builders, Inc. I think that ' s patrolman Larry Fortier lis- tening carefully to every word Rod says. Let ' s see who I have missed. So many people are here now that it ' s hard to keep track of all the names and faces. I got the news that Betty Soule is still abroad with the Peace Corps, and Connie Lane and Sue Taylor are working as interpreters in the Mozambique Bonnie Club, Kenya. Realtor Mary Goodfellow is busy with clients and re- grets that she can ' t make it. I think Debbie LaDoux is teaching algebra in Darien, Connecticut. Lynda Prentice wrote to say she ' d be here but it ' s Greg Jr. ' s parent ' s weekend at St. Lawrence. My wrist is so tired from shaking hands and my feet won ' t last another minute. Well, I ' m certainly not seventeen anymore even though I feel it. Blonde European socialite, Mary Nisula called to me as I walked towards the door, The evening ' s young, darling! My car was waiting so I waved and answered, See you at the next reunion. Joanne Burke 100 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS The staff gratefully acknowledges its debt to the many persons who have aided in the preparation of the 1966 TESSAHOC. We wish to thank Mr. Torrey Capo for his action photographs during the football season, and Mr. Wayne Sawchuck for action shots of the Hull football game, basketball candids, and hockey pictures. The Staff thanks Purdy Co., official photographer for the Class of 1966, for activity, organization, and class photos. And, for the seasonal scenes, we wish to express our gratitude to Mr. R. Leslie Reed. Mr. Devoe, Taylor Publishing Company ' s Regional Representative, receives a very special thank you from the Staff. His expert advice and extreme patience were the main reason we were able to meet each and every deadline. Mrs. Wunschel, as yearbook advisor, is responsible for every page which goes to press. Her job of organizing the book was the most important of all. It is with sincere appreciation that we acknowledge our advisor. Special recognition goes to staff member Kathy Elliott for her cover design, to Vinnie Nardo for his success in selling subscriptions last Fall, to Sue Boyt for her coverage of classes, to Joanne Burke for the Prophecy, to Bob Hall, advertising editor, and to Staff Secretary Donna Nardo for her endless hours at the typewriter. The Class of 1966 and the TESSAHOC Staff appreciates the guidance of Senior Class Advisors Miss Nelson, Mr. Sheehan, and Mr. Erbe.
