CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1951 a group of twenty-five anxious freshmen began their long journey through high school. For leaders along this path they had Hope Truesdell, Marcia James, Nick Buckeridge, Paul Restuccia, Janice Cowdrey, Russell Pratt, Bernadette Shyne, and Edward Wadsworth as their officers. Edward Wadsworth, Paul Restuccia, Walter Howe, Marcia James, Betty Campbell, and Janice Cowdrey were Student Council Repre- sentatives. Class activities had their start in our junior year, when we chose our class rings, held two dances, sent a member to Girls ' State, and elected some members to the National Honor Society. The Icicle Hop, our first social, was a shimmering preview of the biggest event of the year, the Junior Prom. In a South Sea Island setting, this prom was a huge success. A lovely queen and handsome king were chosen, Marcia James and Brad Tite, to crown the evening ' s glory. In March, Diane DeCosta, Janice Cowdrey, Marcia James, Hope Truesdell, Russell Pratt, and Edward Wadsworth were given membership in the National Honor Society, one of the highest honors that a student can attain. Marcia James, in June, was chosen by the American Legion Auxiliary as Girls ' State Representative from Cohasset High. Gertrude Bresnahan became head cheerleader that year, and Janice Cowdrey won the Rotary trophy award in field hockey. Amid this suc- cess, Edward Wadsworth was the proud receiver of the Harvard Book and winner, from Cohasset, of an international math contest. In this he ranked seventh highest out of twenty thousand participants. Our high school was in fourteenth place. September brought our senior year and the incredible realization that we were seniors. This year brought more honors and awards, as well as more duties. Our biggest task was the production of this yearbook, and the job was put under the direction of Nick Buck- eridge, Janice Cowdrey, Marcia James, Paul Restuccia, Jack Smith, Helen Beal, Gertrude Bresnahan, Loretta Leone, Diane DeCosta, Hope Truesdell, Dianne Hathaway, and Betty Campbell. This year ' s dance The Sadie Hawkins, was a regular dogpatch success with a va- riety of costumes. Paul Restuccia was elected the president of Student Council, Marcia James, captain of the marshals, and Gertrude Bresnahan, again, head cheerleader. In a contest for representative to Good Government Day, Robert Bresnahan was chosen by the school with his subject of Juvenile Delinquency. Rotary trophy awards were given to Paul Restuccia for football and Carolyn Ferreira for field hockey. Janice received the award of Daughters of American Revolution. The proceeds of a box lunch sale and those received at the Fishermen ' s Banquet netted a considerable increase in our treasury. The finale to our large scale of high school activities was the senior play, Mother is a Freshman a success — with a surprise ending we ' ll never forget! We dislike the words class history, for they make us realize the change we are about to make, but knowing it must come, we are ready to face it.
