Each year the department has exchange pro- grams with neighboring schools. Small groups from our department have made about 15 appearances in the community. A picked group from the mixed chorus went caroling at Christmas. One vocal quartet went to Des Moines to sing in the state choir dur- ing Thanksgiving vacation. Mixed chorus and boys glee took part in the county vocal festival in March at Central City. Marching band furnished half-time entertainment for the home foot- ball games. Concert band participated in the Linn County band festival at Center Point in October. March 23 was a big night for the many music students who appeared in the operetta, The Sunbonnet Girl. (This was the first operetta to be presented in Coggon for a number of years.) The Easter program for the mixed chorus was held at the Christian church as part of the Holy week services. The next week was the reci- tal for solos; and the following Saturday, they entered contest at La Porte City. Eastern Iowa Band Festival in Cedar Rapids, May 19, was the last event of the year.
