bowling was set up separately each semester with ten teams bowling every wednesday night at 9 p.m. team membership ranged from teachers to students. members of the bowld ones, first semester's winning team, were connie archer with an aver- age of 150, mickey cross with a 142, marla sallee with a 139, and frances scott with a 137. second semester's winning team robert thompson, left, and mike clough display offensive and defensive tactics. BOVVLI was the huns. members Cpictured above - left to rightj includ- ed gary mcdonald with a 132 average, tim gerber with a 149, dave breuer with a 150, and ross harms with a 149. trophies given to the winning teams were furnished by edgewood bowl- ing lanes. self-competitive fencing classes were held for the first time in ccjcls history. these classes, under the supervision of coach wen- dell palmer, met wednesday and friday at 12:40 for one hour ses- sions. the classes first met in memorial hall but moved to one of the rooms in the new occupational building as soon as it was completed. the equipment - which consisted of a foil, mask, jacket, and a right-handed, hand staining kid leather glove - was furnished by the athletics department. the winner of a bout is de- termined by whomever makes five touches on the target area first. this area consisted of the torso Chips to shoulders with the exclusion of armsj. the class hopes to increase in number by next yeap. members of the fencing class include fpictured below f left to rightj david marlow, sherry koch, mike clough, robert thomp- son, luther norman, paulette henderson, and, not pictured, gerald thompson. coach palmer is examining their form. ew! - . 1 Mfr FENCING E E 3 3 A-Qui? , 5f3ev'5f.:.

B. you've done it again what does the b stand for? why burchinal, of course! being an english and drama instructor, mr. burchinal ex- celled in the special activities we call plays. his three produc- tions this year were arms and the man, blithe spirit, and a double feature of the white liarsl' and Ublack come- dy? looking back on all three, one may see a successful reflection . the top pictures on this page and the next are of blithe spir- it, a play set in england. cast members were sherree littell, kathy gonder, tom dietrich, chris beyer, debbie northcutt, jeanette quigley, and annette loffer. this was the second play of the 1970-71 season. the first presentation, arms and the manj' is shown below. the action takes place in bulgaria, about 1885. annette lof- fer, claudia hamlin, kathy gonder, michael hurlbutt, tom dietrich, neal hoadley, pete walterscheid, and tom mast were cast members. last, but not least, come the white liars and black come- dy, both set in england. the white liars were delicia martin, neal hoadley, bob percival, and karim amirkhizi while the players in black comedy included tom mast, deborah tesh, gaylene mayfield, chris beyer, jim percival, gary hald- erman, kathy gonder, and marcus rice. top: this is how blithe spirit looked from the control room. maybe you can tell who those people are. top right: annette loffer and jeanette quigley acting blithely spiritual. left: major sergius saranoff ftom mastj seeks marriage to raina petkoff fan- nette lofferj as her mother and father fpete walterscheid and claudia hamlinj look on. right: debbie tesh, gary halderman, chris beyer, gaylene mayfield, and marcus rice fstandingj and jim percival and tom mast fdown in frontj - mem- bers ofthe black comedy cast A each give you a hand.
