CGMI G HGME - to a queen the most exciting event of the season , , . next to beating independence was football homecoming on ise athletic field. it all began the morning of october l6, 1970 . . . a friday .. . in ccjc's far out fine arts au- ditorium. a short journey amid the audien- cees brought each beautiful candidate to the stage where she was introduced and asked a question about anything from drug abuse to school spirit. each girl's answer, coupled with her poise and popularity, provided the basis for voting by those who attended the ceremo- nies. contestants and organizations represent- ed included, carla folk, cuabg jerry heape, pemmg debra Campbell, men's reed hall, soos- an modaberi, international club, jo parsons, theta chi sigma, cathy agosto, jucoettes, mary jabben, home ec. club, cindy newman, sgag penny beeson, mencg marcy pendleton, young democrats, becky porter, women's reed hall. a parade immediately following the assembly featured not only the young ladies with es- corts riding in sleek, chauffered convertiblesg it also included originally-designed floats constructed at all hours of day and night by each participating organization. lst, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for these were announced saturday night just before the queen Coronation. basing all entry themes on song titles, the number one float was united we stand, a young democrats creation. the number two award went to Hmoments to remember, built by home ec. club. third place went to student gov. assn. with a design entitled jail- house rockf' though some may have been surprised by these initial victories, no reaction could match the look of happy amazement which lit each face in the audience upon the presenta- tion of the new first lady of football. a few moments before, silence had prevailed just as it had on friday when , as a princess, this young lady was asked what would you do if your date didn't show up, and you found out he was at the a 84 w having a coke? a similar surprised reaction had come then when she replied, quite commendably, probably noth- ing. i'm very easy to get along with. we hereby set aside this page to congratulate and salute the 1970-71 football queen, a sophomore from tehran, iran, miss soosan moodaberi.
