M:-...sl 4.-s wwe Q sp. ss -sf fs 9 .1 F fx 1 -S? 1 il, QU ACTIVITIES Future Farmers of Amercia The local chapter of the F F A was organized June 27, 19147, under the supervision of Mr John Huffman It is their goal to become good farmers and citizens for the betterment of the rural comv munity in which they live The F F A officers are as follows Pres Gail Auer, Vice-Pres Duane Ruckman, Sec Donald Carpenter, Treas Richard Krider, Reporter Ralph Hess, Sentinel Thomas Boardman During this year's work the boys have purchased a power sprayer, with the sprayer they have done custom spraying of field crops, dairy barns, and livestock The F P A boys have served their community by conducting milk and soil testing The purpose of these projects is to encourage the F F A members to establish themselves in farming Student Council The Student Council was organized at the start of the school term with the following officers be ing chosen Pres Barbara Diebold, Sec Dorothy Wood, Members Gene Ward, Tom Boardman, Ralph Hess, LeRoy Coulter, Darl Leininger, Vincent Carey, Janet Engle The council members are the presi dents and the elected members from each of the four high school grades Its main purpose is to represent the student body, and help plan and discuss matters which are for the betterment of the school Some of the year's activities have been re arranging the alumni pictures, making plans for the distribution of tourney tickets, and finishing wetmmwcne Chorus The H S Chorus is umder the direction of Miss Mary Dowell Their first appearance this year was for a Christmas program presented by the school On March 12th a selected number of the chorus members attended the county music festxval which 13 held annually The chorus also takes active part in band concerts and ln Baccalaureate exer clses Awards were g1ven at the end of the school year those seniors who haue been permanent members f the chorus for the past four vears hhlrlwlnd Thls 15 our school paper, although our school small, our paper has carried to us a great deal news The Whirlwind is published every six weeks by the secretarial studies class Mr Rlchard Duffxeld is the faculty sponsor of the Whirlwind Senior Play The Class of 'LS presented the play 'latch Out For Spooks' u der the direction of Miss Mary Dowell The cast was as follows Shirley Barbara Diebold, Vera Doris Zu brun, Lois Gloria Blowers, Angie Mary F Kyler, Patsy Helen Brown, Hollyhock Myra Schall, Dumpling Don Ness, Slats Duane Ruck man, Jed Don Carpenter, Randy Gene Ward, Peggy Amber Graves, Aunt Molly Jeanette lorrolf, Adver tising Committee-Bob Wood, Dot Crawford, Stage Committee-Gail Auer, Richard Krider, Ticket Com- mittee-Toa Boardman' Henry Todd, Ushers Jane lolfe, Marjorie Perry The play had an m sterious air which kept the audience in suspense till the very end Junior Play The class of l9b9 presented 'She's M Daisy' as their JUDIOT pla , under the direction of Mrs Bernard McLauchlin The cast was as follows Daisy Darling Gladys Auer, Don Darl1ng Ed Slater, Freddie Adair Dan Rock, Anna Ada1r Delores Messner, Peter Barrett-Bob Johnson, Aunt Lucie Maureen Maley, Queenie Delight Easterday, Apple LeRoy Coulter, Mrs Snooks Helen Leininger, Mrs Kelly Ethel Minnick, Ticket committee Ralph Hess, Elaine Nicodemus, Ruth Brundige, Music Com- mittee Elaine Nicodemus, Ralph Hess, Arlene Perry, Robert Loe, Lynn Miller, Ruth Brundige, Advertis ing Commlttee-Robert Loe, lynn Miller, Arlene Perry This was a comedy in three acts and certainly had the audience in a jovial mood all through the play The cast gave a grand preformance Bob Johnson's tie gave the play a touch of light comedy Ralph Hess did a fine job in keeping the com- mittee handling the stage busy and in taking care of the samll details of producing a ple At the end of the second act, Ralph presented the director with a beautiful earing and necklace set on behalf of McLauchlin again we say thanks for a successful Plly the Junior Class To Mrs Majorette Our majorette, Janet Engle, has led the band var1ous times this year The most important events were the L H parade and basketball games Band The band is composed of children from grades 5- 12 and is under the direction of Mr Cloyd Ver milxon The band takes part in various activities such as concerts, cake walks, teachers institute, county mus1c fest1vals, and many others They also march at basketball games , .
