Charged with educating students of Coe College in the art of living are Miss Mary Bell, Dean of Women, Mr. Myron L. Koenig, Dean of Men, and Mr. A. D. Walters, As- sistant Dean of Men. - These offices are responsible for the housing of students, correct social conduct at College affairs, and the supervision of fraternity and sorority rushing and pledging. The interpretation of college regulations as they affect students is another one of their duties. Both Dean Bell and Dean Koenig concentrate their efforts on freshmen in the hope of aiding them in scholarly and social pursuits. Dean Walters is in constant Contact with the rnen of Greene Hall. It is his duty to see that the rules and regulations of the n'1en's dormitory are carried out and he also acts as adviser to the Inter-Fraternity Council. Wise is the student who, having encountered a difficult problem, seeks the advice of the Deans for aid in its solution. 51

7 x The general direction of academic and internal affairs of the college is administered by the President, the Deans, and the Faculty of the College. There is the usual division of functions among 'Various committees which in many cases cooperate With corre- sponding student comrnittees. V

I ' '.,?.3L. J 'fl ki t1iis.tEY'lif is C. Harve Geiger, Dean of the College, has served Coe in that capacity for the past eleven years. As Dean, he.handles all problems that relate to the curriculum and the administration of the entire college. His duties coincide with the work of the President of the college, and he serves as an intermediate between faculty and students on the campus. The ideal is to make the Deans, the students, and the faculty so unified that their work becomes fused together by fairness, unity, and understanding. Coe College is committed to a program of liberal arts education. lt gives proper regard for the function of an institution of higher learning in preparing young men and Women for effective participation in the service of society. This broad purpose places upon this college the responsibility of providing for each student: therefore, Coe de- mands the assistance of men who are well-qualified and informed to devote their life for this ,purpose of education. Dean Geiger has met these qualifications: he has han- dled the academic and internal affairs of the college Well, and Coe is proud and grate- ful for his splendid service.
