As driver education instructor, Booster Club member, and Athletic Coordinator, Mr. Damon has invested enormous amounts of his time and energy in the school. His smile and sometimes not-so-good jokes have endeared him to CBN A students. Students soon learn that they can rely on him for en- couragement and support. For these reasons and many more, the class of 1987 is proud to have had Mr. Walter Damon as a class advisor for the past four years. With much affection and gratitude, we, the class of 1987, dedicate the yearbook to our friend, Mr. Walter Damon. Look for a room of people staring intently at computer screens, maybe flinching a little as they get ‘gunned down’ in a game, or scratching their heads as they puzzle over the bugs in their programs, or muttering “Ah ha!” when it runs properly — often with the help of Mr. or Mrs. Smart. Other common words are headaches, backaches, heartbreaks, voice strain, brain strain — you name it, CBNA Drama Club had it. Despite a dwindling membership and last-minute replacements, the show made it to Opening Night, April 18, 1986. No one but someone who has been through four months of frustrating rehearsals can know what it feels like to receive a standing ovation from an audience that has sat through what you thought would be the worst two hours of your life. It makes all the tears and pain — emotional and physical — worth it. Each change that fills the present Sets the stage for our tomorrow, And how we meet each challenge Helps determine joy or sorrow. In every new beginning Spirit plays a vital part: We must approach tomorrow With a strong and steady heart. So as we turn the corner Let ‘s all apprehension shed And fill our hearts with confidence As we proceed ahead. 28 A haunting dance on Halloween It brought out the ghoulishness in people! The varsity team had a great season, finishing with a record of 6 wins and 10 losses. Thanks to Superman, Mr. Nunnally, and the teams’ efforts for this very respectable record. The junior varsity volleyball team did super also. With the help of Wonderwoman, 1st year coach Mrs. Pimental, the J.V. record was 7 wins and 9 losses. Good luck to both teams next year! The team’s 5-6-3 record shows only part of the frustration. In the last game of the season they played defending champion, undefeated Hinsdale, and led until the last 7 minutes of the game. Although the J. V. soccer team had a no-win season, they are not losing hope. During the season, they learned a lot of new skills and refined the basics. What a big improvement from last year! They got off to an early start and knew that with new coach Mrs. Permental they could go far.
