 We the graduating class ofl973, in looking back over the past four years wish to dedicate the efforts involved in the formation of this yearbook tothe great virtues which have made this country strong and will keep it strong through the undying annuls of time. Freedom, the gift bestowed on all Americans by virtue of native birth grant of citizenship is expressed in the freedom of one or more individuals, to speak their mind without the threat of persecution. To speak upagainst a wrongdoing inflicted upon oneself is the greatest gift any man could possibly wish for. Freedom to choose ones lifestyle in the choice of home, occupation, religion, is a privilege we Americans often take for granted. Schooling, or education as it is referred to in these highly technical times, should be considered as the first of many stepping stones which lead toone'sjoy in his freedom of choice. High school should not be taken lightly as a time for lazy disregard for the system of the so-called Establishment. In- stead, it should be used as a time to search one's inner self, to leave no door unopened and no opportunity un- touched. This time should be used to develop a deep-seated appreciation for the knowledge and wisdom ac- quired by those above us who have taken the time to devote themselves, body and mind, to the further educa- tion of the young men and women entmsted into their care. To dwell further on this subject, may it also be said that we the students should exercise our freedom of speech when it is evident that the people we are en- trusting our futures to show that they are merely the small percentage of pseudo-intellects which from time to time infiltrate the great American educational institutions. Freedom of speech is a right granted; use it when necessary, not when convenient. This year marks the 200th anniversary of our community; let us hope and pray that we may grow through peace and freedom for another 200 years, at least.
