Freedom, the gift bestowed on all Americans by virtue of native birth grant of citizenship is expressed in the freedom of one or more individuals, to speak their mind without the threat of persecution. To speak upagainst a wrongdoing inflicted upon oneself is the greatest gift any man could possibly wish for. Freedom to choose ones lifestyle in the choice of home, occupation, religion, is a privilege we Americans often take for granted. Schooling, or education as it is referred to in these highly technical times, should be considered as the first of many stepping stones which lead toone'sjoy in his freedom of choice. High school should not be taken lightly as a time for lazy disregard for the system of the so-called Establishment. In- stead, it should be used as a time to search one's inner self, to leave no door unopened and no opportunity un- touched. This time should be used to develop a deep-seated appreciation for the knowledge and wisdom ac- quired by those above us who have taken the time to devote themselves, body and mind, to the further educa- tion of the young men and women entmsted into their care. To dwell further on this subject, may it also be said that we the students should exercise our freedom of speech when it is evident that the people we are en- trusting our futures to show that they are merely the small percentage of pseudo-intellects which from time to time infiltrate the great American educational institutions. Freedom of speech is a right granted; use it when necessary, not when convenient. This year marks the 200th anniversary of our community; let us hope and pray that we may grow through peace and freedom for another 200 years, at least. Horace To be of use in the world is the only way to be happy. Remember me while passing by. As you are now so once was I, As I am now so you will be, Prepare for death and follow me And then a scholar said. Speak of Talking, And he answered, saying: You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts; And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime. And much of your talking, thinking is half murdered. For thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words may indeed unfold its wings but can- not fly. There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone. The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape. And there are those who talk, and without knowledge or forethought reveal a truth which they themselves do not understand. And there are those who have the truth with- in them, but they tell it not in words. In the bosom of such as these the spirit dwells in rhythmic silence. When you meet your friend on the roadside or in the marketplace, let the spirit in you move your lips and direct your tongue. Let the voice within your voice speak to the ear of his ear; For his soul will keep the truth of your heart as the taste of the wine is remembered When the colour is forgotten and vessel is no more. Kahlil Gibran He who pities woman depreciates her. He who attributes to her the evils of society oppresses her. He who thinks her goodness is of his goodness and her evil of his evil is shameless in his pretensions. But he who accepts her as God made her does her justice. Riemer The Open Door Milwaukee, Wisconsin It isn't easy, this sitting inside when it’s springtime. You get restless and feel like jumping up and running out the door into the world - without a corridor pass. The whisperers shrill back and forth across the rows of desks. You can't sleep. You listen to the noises of monotony: pencils scratching, fingers drumming pages idly turning, pens tapping... You watch the clouds move stare at the ripples of heat rising from the radiators past the open windows. Your eyes feel heavy and your leadweighted feet ache to be barefoot and pounding against the packed sands of the hot windy beach. Outside, a truck roars past and everything comes wavering to life and nods back into death. You glance at the clock on the front wall and sigh. Favorite Expression - Listen!! McGuigan REUNION 1984 Just eleven short years after graduation and under the supervision of Mr. Darling, the still-irresponsi- ble class of 1973 rejoins to hash over times gone by. Pam, still of Northwood fame gave up a promising career as a shepherd to raise watermelons. As a major supplier of watermelons to Everett and Sheri Brown’s drive-in grocery store and nuclear-powered car wash, Pam etches out a good living. Jim, a truck driver for Harding Metals has tried for years, unsuccessfully, to sell his writings. Unwed and still living at home he often devotes his free time to nothing. Cindy, getting into the family business, has helped the womens lib movement greatly by becoming the first lady oil burner cleaner. Rev. Charles Bennett is here to bestow his religion’s blessing and to outdrink anyone. Unaware of the activities of Beth for the past few years we are all surprised to find site is an accom- plished singer on the West Coast. Shelley, Kim, and Candy all arrive on the scene late. Being professors at U.N.H., they had a night class to attend. Dawn, a private secretary to the now aging Rockerfeller foundation is glad to get out of the hustle and bustle of New York City. Linda married to a concert pianist still drives beat-up old Ramblers. John, after years of destitution, hit it big at the auto shows when he finally got his '55 Chevy to run. Richard is now winning very much money for his hard efforts with his prize-winning Angus'. Norman came into some wealth with the negotiation of a deal to purchase Camp Biavna. Now he wants to open a boathouse on what’s left of Northwood Lake. Wendy and Gina live in St. Louis now but heavens only knows what they do for a living. Mike, now married to June also a former graduate of Coe Brown, still hasn't run out of things to fight with her over. Sheri didn't come. I guess site's still mad cause they forgot to put her picture in the yearbook. Honest Sherri, we’re really sorry. It was an accident. Barbara is head of the secretary school at Plymouth State. Still no one knows whose is the mysterious GM on her license plate. I think it stands for General Motors. Vanessa, who remained in Northwood to raise animals, lias a wide variety of natural freaks due to accidental crossbreeding. Robbie still rides horses but now she walks funny. I guess from all the riding. Since our graduation CBNA has acquired a cafeteria and Marion is the supervisor. Brenda Wilson has joined the Johnson Dynasty and is now head cook at the dairy bar. Meanwhile Chris and Karen got together and formed a hot dog corporation called Bellison Franks. Marilyn has 3 Vegas and is working on her fourth. Debbie made it big in the silent motion pictures. Donna Clark is on her way to California in her little green truck so she is unable to attend. All in all as I look around the room and reflect back to my senior year I remember it as the happiest time of my life. Now I realize it was the people who made it so great. Cfoss 4 1974 FIRST ROW: D.
