The machine age demands that the young man of today know the fundamentals of production. Both lecture periods and actual practice are used in teaching the intricacies of the It could very well be one of Cody's own future architects and engineers who will design an autom- atic potato peeler or a rocket to the moon, kg i , modem machine in this class. Richard Harris among others is concentrating on doing a fine job of knurling a handle. TRAINING SKILLS It took skilled engineers and draftsmen to design and build Cody, and today in its halls walk some of tomorrow's engineers, mechanics, electricians, welders, draftsnien, and other workers in industry. They are now students at Cody preparing for their entrance into a world desiring men with a vast technical knowledge, and it is these men for whom our country has its greatest need. These boys were brought up in an industrial city, and the chances are good that they will remain in Detroit after graduation. With their talented hands and mechanical minds, they are learning their trade now. Cody is blessed with a practical arts department complete with drafting rooms and machine, electrical, wood, and welding shops. They are spacious and carry all the equipment necessary to learn the most up-to-date methods of production. Cody's vocational unit offers a home economics de- partment which guides our future honiemakers in the arts of contemporary living.
