The machine age demands that the young man of today know the fundamentals of production. TRAINING SKILLS It took skilled engineers and draftsmen to design and build Cody, and today in its halls walk some of tomorrow's engineers, mechanics, electricians, welders, draftsnien, and other workers in industry. They are now students at Cody preparing for their entrance into a world desiring men with a vast technical knowledge, and it is these men for whom our country has its greatest need. These boys were brought up in an industrial city, and the chances are good that they will remain in Detroit after graduation. With their talented hands and mechanical minds, they are learning their trade now. Cody is blessed with a practical arts department complete with drafting rooms and machine, electrical, wood, and welding shops. They are spacious and carry all the equipment necessary to learn the most up-to-date methods of production. Cody's vocational unit offers a home economics de- partment which guides our future honiemakers in the arts of contemporary living.

From their initial experiments with oxygen and water, chem- istry students go on to further work with sulphur, esters, metals, and other more advanced experimentation, Along with their abstract work, the junior chemists learn the practical applic - Exploring the Mysferies LABORATORY SCIENCES The science department aids students to learn more about themselves and the world they live in, Biology takes them through the evolu- tion of plants and animals from the smallest blobs of protoplasm and algae to the study of man. Chemistry students learn about the chem- ical structure of the world. Further study of matter and energy is part of the course of study in physics. Floriculture courses teach students about care of the soil, the growth and nutrition of plants, and arrangement of the blossoms. In addition to the textbook-covered subjects, Codyites learn many more things in their science classes. They learn to be careful with delicate equipment and dangerous chemicals. They learn the application of this newfound knowledge to everyday life. The study of science is a useful addition to any student's life. ation of their new skill.
