Efficient scrviccs are provided Mrs. Joyce Cribbs records one of the many messages received everyday at Cocoa High. Mrs. D'Amico checks her balance with Mrs. Anne McGranahan. secretaries Often buried beneath mountains of paper work, Cocoa High's secretaries rendered invaluable services to the school and its students. In addition to their regular duties, they typed the daily bulletin and recorded atten- dance. ln her seventh year at Cocoa High School, Mrs. Snyder, the head secretary and secretary to Mr. Jenkins, was general office supervisor and kept teachers' folders. Returning to Cocoa High for her second year, clerk-typist Mrs. Cribbs was in charge of county requisitions and work orders. For the third year, Bookkeeper Mrs. McGrana- han was responsible for internal ac- counts, handling club requisitions and teachers' payroll. Often accomplishing the seemingly impossible, these secre- taries were nevertheless always willing to help both teachers and students. .4-1 E Setting up Mr. Jenkin's daily appointments is a part of Mrs. Mary Snyder's job. 21

deans Disciplinar problems are handled Because they were required to main- tain discipline in a school of approx- imately 27OO students, Cocoa High's two deans were busy people. With the increased size of the school, the size of their jobs increased, too. Receiving her bachelor's degree from the University of Utah, lVlrs. lVle- linda Poole became dean of girls for the school year 1969-1970. Coming to CHS in 1964, she worked in the library and the audio-visual room prior to becoming girls' dean. She was re- sponsible for girls' discipline and at- tendance. As dean of boys, lVlr. Bill lVlcGinn disciplined boys, recorded their at- tendance, and also assumed the job of athletic director. He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Carolina. Secretary, lVlrs. Ethelyne lVlultop was indispensible to the operation of the deans' office. guidance, Vital aid is offcrcd This past year, an integral part of Cocoa High School was the Guidance Department. Director lVlrs. Jane Schnoor and counselors lVlrs. lVlargary Cross, lVlrs. Beecher Whisenant, and Dick Blake counseled students when- ever they had a problem or question. They advised seniors of their credits, helped them choose their college and apply for scholarships, kept students' permanent record files, and ad- ministered tests such as the PSAT, the NlVlSQT, and the Senior Place- ment Test. Assuming the role of vocational counselor this year was lVlr. Joe Walden. Last year's program of voca- tional training at Brevard Junior Col- lege was discontinued, training was now conducted completely at CHS. lndispensible to the Guidance De- partment, secretary lVlrs. Johnson made appointments and kept the of- fice running smoothly. She handled the mountains of paper work that Coach Blake checks over a student's record. flowed through the Guidance office.
