principal Mr. Jenkins - acuvc adm1n1strator Back at Cocoa High School after a two year absence, lVlr. Jim Jenkins became principal with a definite goal in mind: to provide for the needs of students on every level by changing the curriculum. He came well-quali- fied, having received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stetson University, his lVlaster's degree in Administration and Supervision from Western Caro- lina University. lVlr. Jenkins' main outside interest is sports. When he came to Cocoa High School in 1954, he was head basketball coach, assistant football coach, and teacher of biology. From then until he left the school in 1967, he was teacher, coach, and dean. Dur- ing his years at CHS, he has been head coach of every Cocoa High sport except swimming. In 1967, he left to become assistant principal of Eau Gal- lie High School. He became principal of Cocoa High in lVlarch of 1969. lVlr. Jim Jenkins, principal, signs an or der blank for equipment. assistant principals They serve as right hand men New to CHS this past year, lVlr. Smith was well-qualified for his job as assistant principal. He received his Bachelor of Science and lVlaster's de- grees in Education from Florida A 81 lVl University, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. His all-important job was that of assisting lVlr. Jenkins in every possible way. He wanted to see all students at CHS work together to- wards the common goal of acquiring a good education. lVlr. Houston Trew returned this year to Cocoa High, assuming again the role of assistant principal. He re- ceived his education at Florence State University, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree in lVlath and History and his lVlaster's degree in Education. Before coming to Cocoa High School, he was a guidance counselor and math teacher at Melbourne High School. Once a sports participant, he considers himself an active spec- tator. lVlr.
