The boys winning 74-49 were led by Chris lones with 20 and lerry Campbell with 16. The following games were with Rogers- ville. The girls did not play as Rogersville does not have a girls' team. The boys' B- team lost their first game by the score of 41-32. The leading scorer was Morris Taylor with 16 points. lt was entirely different in the nightcap as Newport won by 51-39. They were led in this game by Ierry Campbell with 21 points. The Fighting Cocks were back at home for their-next game and won a doubleheader from Cosby. The girls, by the score of 52-38, were led by Emily Williams with 28 points. The boys winning 72-19 were led by Chris lones with 17 and Ierry Campbell with 14. In the next game with Maury the Cocks were out for revenge. The girls winning 48-45 were led by Emily Vlfilliams with 27 points. The boys winning 63-55 were led by Chris lones and Ray Boley with 30 and 16 points, respectively. The following game was with Greene- ville. The boys' B-team losing by 20-19 were led by lack Lane with 5. The Varsity game was entirely different as the Cocks won 52-46. They were led in scoring by Chris Iones with 23 and lerry Campbell with 14. After the Christmas holidays the Fight- ing Cocks picked up where they left off by sweeping a doubleheader from Sevierville. The girls, winning 48-45, were again led by Senior Players: Co-Captains Butcher and Campbell Emily Williams with 28 points. The boys, winning 50-43, were led by Chris Iones with 22 points. For the next game the Cocks traveled to Pittman Center and split or doubleheader. The girls, losing 38-35, were led by Emily Williams with 27 points. The boys lust kept rolling along and won 67-46. They were again led by Chris Iones with 28 points. For the next game Newport was host to Gatlinburg as they swept another double- header. The girls, winning 42-38, were led by Emily Williams with 29 points. The boys, winning 63-59, were led by Chris Iones and Ierry Campbell with 19 and 13 points. The next opponent was White Pine and the Cocks won another doubleheader. The girls, with Emily Williams getting 36 points, won 56-46. The boys led by Chris lones with 19 and Ierry Campbell with 17 won easily, 63-46. The next opponent was the highly re- garded Carter Hornets The girls romped to an easy victory with substitutes playing the entire last half. They were led again by tremendous' Emily Williams with 41 points of the total 69. The final score was 69-30. The boys also romped to an easy victory by the score of 73-34. They were led by guard Chris lones with 27 and rebound- ing center, Wade Butcher' with 14. As we go to press, the record for regular season games now stands at 12 wins and 1 loss for the boys and 9 wins and 2 losses for the girls. The season was started in the right way by sweeping a doubleheader from the Alumni. The girls, winning by the score of 41-19 were led by Emily Williams With 33 points. The boys were led by Chris lones with 29 and lerry Campbell with 23 and they won by the score of 73-6l. The next opponent was Rush Strong. The girls winning by 57-2U were led by Emily Williams with 28 points. The boys winning by 68-46 were led by Chris lones and Ierry Campbell with 28 and 22 points, respectively. The Cocks lost their first doubleheader to Maury ot Dandridge. The girls lost 53-48 and the boys 70-54. They were led in scoring by Emily Williams with 28 and Chris lones with 22.
