To the members of the Senior Class I extend my most hearty congratulations on the publication of an other yearbook May this book always remain a treas ured account in pictures and words of the many mean ingful experiences you have had throughout your Hugh School years The opportunity for education is a vital part of our national heritage lt is based upon our concept of the individuals freedom However freedom even in our day is a conquest for the individual and not some thing that can be given to you by someone Moreover the pattern which your freedom takes must be shaped by the individual within the tenets of the law as estab lished by society Anything less than this does not constitute the essence of democracy lt is my hope that we have helped each one of you to set your goals and forge your patterns for life lt is my further hope that your futures may reflect the efforts which all of you have put forth in gaining a useful education LAURENCE M HELSEL Principal 6 To the Graduating Class of l957: You have, as evidenced by your graduation from high school, achieved another step in your climb to success and happiness-and it is my sincere wish that you have continued success and happiness in the fu- Remember in evaluating your future success that it cannot be measured by wealth, notoriety, place, or power. The only true measure of success is the ratio between what you might have done and what you might have been onthe one hand and what you have actually done and what you have actually made of yourself on the other The world IS full of unused talent and ability Almost everyone can do better than he does I chal lenge you to achieve your best C l. Daryl Bleakley For our chapter star farmer we named-Leroy Murdock because at his outstand- ing work on his farming program and his help in our chapter. This year our chapter has accomplished many outstanding activities. One ot which is an award which we received at our National Convention, held in Kansas City, Missouri. We were awarded a bronze plaque tor outstanding chapter achievements. We were one of the few awarded this plaque in Pennsylvania, on the national level. This year we also mixed rat poison for one ot our community services along with selling garden seeds, Christmas, and all occasion cards, and tooth pick dispensers. Although our chapter is small, consisting of 36 members, we are very proud of it. We have accomplished many things that larger chapters have not, because we believe in our motto.
