We threw back the Shnzlz and Klined out of bed in our luxurious rooms at the Hotel Van Derzfort in New York City where somehow we had ended after getting our Rhoade: crossed on a trip to San Fzuncisro. First a quick look in the lllerm' to see if we were all there, then We pulled the Rtmp for Bellhop service. Soon we were served a delicious breakfast of Cut4'hr1ll'i' Crunchies. Now, said Don Bahhitt, I think We should take a drive around town. But before we left, we had to catch up on Dick Tracy in the funny papers. Somehow we ended up in the country. While enjoying our drive, we noticed that Beverly MrCartney wasn't there. I bet Schtnizlt the bus, came from Dorothy Mitzch. We all agreed and continued our trip. Soon we came to a Hill where, to our sur- prise, we saw three men bent under the Hood of an old tin Lizzie, We stopped and one man came over and said he was a tourist from England and didn't know much about his car, which was a Wagner model, nor did his two friends, De and Wulf Smith. lark Wentworth quickly offered our services and we all went over to help. Kiley, said the Englishman, I think this thing is Dunn for. For 'Ezfonx sake, said De, MeQui.fton is this. What keeps the car run- ning? There is Linton the battery and the gas cap isn't on Wright, said lohn Ongley who had been busy looking things over. Don't Stull Smith: motor, yelled the Englishman to Paul Hurry who was inside busily pushing buttons and turning knobs. I think it needs Moore gas, loan Feldmillcr added. Yes, agreed Walt, and the Schuj doesn't seem to be on Stright. Sayre, old boy, said the Englishman to Mr. loner our chaperone who was busy setting under a tree, 'Alf I don't get this wreck fixed soon I am afraid I will have a Hurt attack. So our two able mechanics lohn Dtwiron and Dick Chenoufeth started to work and in a few minutes the three gentlemen were in the car going down the road. We all got back in the bus and con- tinued our iourney. Since it was nearly noon we were looking for a place for a picnic. We soon approached a bi farm. While we were driving up the lane we got stuck in the mud. We decided to all Brnlly out and Chofiel the mud. After many a Huff and puff, we were out and continued to- Ward the house. Old Murrlonalll the farmer, out from the barn to greet us. We went into the barn and Watched him Mook a cow, He said his hired man Lu washold that day and had several Beers so he fired him and since he had so many cows to milk, Ester Shull said we should help himg so we did. Then he took us to see his new Hague: that he had bought a few days ago for two Shillings. Put Pressler said they were the pret- tiest hogs she had ever seen, but we don't think she even looked at them. On our way back, we spied Allen Shoey and lurk Walton feeding the Heffer, nan, with a baby bottle. We all stopped to watch. Iust then a big moving Vaughn pulled up in front of the house. Old MacDonald said his good friend, Old McDaniel, was coming to live with them for awhile. He took us over to a pretty little pond with some Mallinrds swimming around. Then his wife And er :on and Iohn .von and Peter :on came over to see us. We talked for awhile till we heard some one cry, Mc Caught trying to get over the fence. It was Old Macdonaldlv daugh- ter. Turner over and unhook her dress, he called. At once Peggy Tingly ran to the little girl's assistance. Then Chuck Peters saw a pret- ty Kelly green field near by and asked Old Mae- Donald if we could use it for a picnic. He said yes and when we offered to pay for it he said we could use it Ifree. When We got there, the boys started a game of Ball. We sent Carl Wilcox and Wayne Striglzt to find some woodg but they came back and said there wasn't any Wood worth anything, so we sent Ronald Stullsmith to help them and soon they had quite a pile. Then Pearl Hinkle and Patsy Kelchner put the food on the blanket. We had a delicious dinner of corn on the Cobb, Beans, and Clark bars. Then we started home. On the way, we passed a Miller and a Shoemaker at work in front of an old house. When we got back to the city, we went to the Sunbeam plant to see the new Mex Master at work. Then, we stopped at a photographic studio to have our pictures taken. A small girl was posing at the time. She wouldn't smile, so the photographer said, Grin Nell. She did and soon it was our turn. The picture was good even though Shirley Stazfey had her eyes closed. When we got back to the Hotel, we saw a would-be holdup by a man disguised as a Knight in shining Armour. Fortunately, the guard was by De Vault. Need we rePete', We had a very interesting and exciting day. The Morrell of this story is Vonnie.
