lEN TH GRADE On September 21 1949 we elected our offlcers for the year They are Presldent Bob Schall Vxce Presldent Evelyn Hollabaugh Secretary Emma Lee Offensend Treasurer Peggy Heed Later Dlck H111 was appornted Parha mentar1an On Ianuary 20 we ordered our class rmgs and we recelved them early 1n the spr1ng We were all pleased w1th the rlngs selected by the comm1ttee composed of Lloyd Iacobs Harold Crawford Ianet For ney Bernadlne W11l1ams Bob Schall and Our class IS composed of a d1vers1f1ed group There are twenty three commerclal g1rls who hope to be the Future Secre tar1es of Amerrca and ten agrlcultural stu dents who hope to be the best farmers of tomorrow Seven g1rls are taklng home eco nomlcs fthelr lucky husbandsll The remam der of 47 are takmg the academ1c course and a lot of them are lookmg forward to go1ng to college The class 1S also d1v1ded 1nto three home rooms w1th the commerclal g1rls hav1ng MISS Brock and M1ss Thomas as home room teachers the ag boys have Mr McCullough and the academlc and home economlcs students have MISS Feld mlller and Mrs Underwood Page 24 We dec1ded to have a crazy basketball game for our moneymakrng project of the year The two opposrng teams boys vs g1rls played the rules backwards and made therr polnts Wllh the use of a step ladder and an occasronal tr1p to the bal cony to make sure the ball scored for them On March the 10th the members of the Sophomore Class held thexr annual class party wh1ch was a Sa1ntPatr1ck s Day party held 1n the gym A comm1ttee of seven was chosen to make arrangements and plan th1s party The comm1ttee was made up of Floyd Moyer D1ck H111 Iergen V1n cent Kltty Smlth Shlrley Ward Ioyce S11 loway and Marllyn W11l1ams songs As the students entered the gym they were each handed shamrocks w1th an Ir1sh name wrltten on them Later these names were arranged 1nto about f1ve d1f ferent groups Wllh ten ln each famlly There were a lot of surprlsed students when they found out whose famlly they were rn Durlng the party each famrly had to tell an Irrsh joke Many more 1nterest1ng games were played after wh1ch refreshments were served wh1ch consrsted of fru1ted l1me Jello salad assorted sandwrches and beverages As the party came to a close songs were sung after whrch a lot of t1red happy Sopho mores left for home I 7' A 1 KmY Smith- The party consisted of Irish games and
