HISTORY OF JUNIOR CLASS OF 1944 ln the year of l940 80 green but rather brllllant freshmen entered the walls of Cochranton Hlgh School to begun a career that was to mark them as an outstanding class We were surprlsed but pleased to fmd that Mr Spence was to be our home room teacher for the flrst year Shortly after entering school our lmtlatlon party was held at the home of Russell Bean Thls event was enjoyed by all who attended We had luncheons to ralse money for our class At Christmas tlme we had a small party ln our home room and exchang ed gxfts Our class offrcers for the year were as follows Presldent ean Dunn Vlce Presldent Dorothy Gull Secretary Loren Patterson Treasurer lrene Work After a pleasant vacatlon the students assembled ln Room 7 wlth Mr Hel sel as our home room teacher At the end of the first semlster the class was dlvlded Most of the pupils moved to Room l03 where Mr Helsel was ln charge whlle the remamder of the class stayed m Room 7 under the super vlslon of Mr Nelson A Chrlstmas party was held ln Room 7 and a lovely time was had by all the students Our class held luncheons to pay for our plcture ln the C0hlSO Toward the latter part of the year our Biology class under the leadership of Mr Nelson took a trip to Pymatunlng Dam We vlslt ed the lake the splllway and other places of mterest After we had eaten and played ball we went to Conneaut Lake Park where we ate supper and then ordered our class rings which were to be delivered the followmg September Our class offlcers for the Sophomore year were President oe Anderson Vlce Presldent Eleanor Carrara Secretary l..0lS Vogan Treasurer ohn Work Thls year as unlors Room l04 was our home room and Mlss Riddle was our home room teacher ln September we received our class rmgs We gave the Hallowe en party thls year which was a successful event lnstead of hav mg separate Christmas partnes thls year the whole school had one ln the gym ln December we had tryouts for cheerleaders Three groups participated Jn thls The unlor group conslstlng of Dorothy Gull and Eleanor Carrara were chosen to represent the school Shortly after this Elame Gxlmore was added to the group The one bug project of the class was sponsormg the Georgra Wildcats on Aprll 8 The audltorxum was very well fllled and a n1ce sum was realized The officers were as follows Presldent John Work Vice Presldent Eleanor Carrara Secretary Elalne Gilmore Treasurer lrene Work ' -J went roller skating.
