COMMANDER Commander Stephen J Hostettler IS a natlve of Evansvxlle Ind1ana He was graduated from the U S Naval Academy Class of 1953 Upon comm1ss1on1ng CDR Hostettler served two success1ve tours 1n Pac1f1c Fleet destroyers The flrst was 1n USS Eversole DD 7891 as Flrst Lreutenant The second was 1n USS ames E Kyes fDD 787D where he was asslgned Gunnery Off1CCf In 1956 CDR Hostettler was asslgned to USS St Clalr County LST 10961 as Executrve Off1cer whlch was followed by a tour as Asslstant Operatlons Off1CCI Staff of Amph1b1ous Operatlonal Tralnlng Un1t PaC1f1C Injanuary 1961 after two and one half years of graduate stud1es at the U S Naval Postgraduate School Monterey Cahfornla CDR Hostettler was awarded the degree of Master of Scrence 1n Electrlcal Engmeermg He then served 1n the comm1ss1on1ng crew of USS Lawrence QDDG 41 as Weapons Offlcer unt1l February 1963 CDR Hostettler was ordered to Staff Commander Crulser Destroyer Force Atlant1c Fleet for a two year tour as Gu1ded M1ss1le Offlcer Upon completlon of the course of mstructron at the Armed Forces Staff College 1n 1965 he was ass1gned to USS Conyngharn DDG 171 as Executrve Offrcer He served 1n the Bureau of Naval Personnel 1n the Offlcer D1str1but1on D1v1s1on from 1967 to July 1969 CDR Hostettler IS marrled to the former Lucy Ann Ingalls of Bedford Ind1ana and they have two chrldren Kathryn and Stephen Jr 73- , 7,114 6 iv Aff ' 1 X V sz f' f Q' STEPHE J. LCDR JOSEPH S. HURLEURT, USN EXECUTIVE OFFICER Hf-..,,, LCDR HURLBURT received his commission as an ensign upon gradua- tion from the College of the Holy Cross in june of 1960. He served aboard the USS KRETCI-IMER QDER-329j for two years as Electronics Material Officer and Combat Information Center Officer. Fol- lowing a six month course at the Naval Destroyer School he joined the USS LEARY QDDR-8791 in February 1963 where he served as Weapons Officer until November 1964. From the LEARY he went to shore duty at the Bureau of Naval Personnel In Washington D.C. where he was a Destroyer Placement Officer for one year and Administrative Assistant to the Surface Captain Detailer for the second year. From Washington he was reassigned to Vietnam where he served as COMMANDER COASTAL DIVISION 13 for one year. In March 1968 he joined the USS ENGLAND QDLG-221 where he was reassigned to the Naval War College as a student in the Command and Staff Course. Following War College he was assigned to the USS COCHRANE I QDDG-21j as Executive 1 Officer, reporting aboard 2 25 July 1970. LCDR HURLBURT is married to the former Shirley Moegling of North Canton, Ohio. They have two children, a son T. Q jf' and a daughter Lisa X Anne age 1. ii
