COMMANDER DES R0 ER ' 1 We ' 1 if . K . I , 'I -ffm? I W 'I 0 , WY We APT A.6. RUSSILLO USN Captain Alfred G. Russillo was born in New Rochelle, New York on 26 Novem- ber 1920. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in June 1943 and served on board the USS BRADFORD QDD-5451 for the remainder of World War II. After the war, he served as Executive Officer of BRADFORD and of USS RO- WAN QDD-7821, and as Operations Officer on the Staff of Commander Destroyer Squadron TWO. In 1950 he was assigned to the Naval Academy as an instructor in Seamanship and Navigation. He then commanded USS TOUCAN QMSF-3875 partici- pating in minesweeping operations in the Korean War. Following a tour of duty in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, he served successively as Commander Mine Divi- sion EIGHTY THREE and as Commanding Officer, USS BEATTY QDD-7561. In June 1961, he graduated from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and was assigned to the Office of the CNO for the following three years. During this tour he earned a Master of Business Administration degree from George Washington University. His next tour of duty was as Commander Destroyer Divi- sion THREE TWENTY TWO. In June 1965, he returned to the Office of CNO as Head Of the Strategy and Concepts Section of the Strategic Plans Division where he served until January 1968. On 9 February 1968, Captain Russillo relieved Captain T.W. Walsh as Command- er Destroyer Squadron TWENTY FIVE. Captain Russillo is married to the former Catherine Ann O'Donnell of Mount Vernon, New York. They have one son and seven daughters. 3

N6 OFFICER Q17 JAN 67 -- 8 JUN ee CDR T.I. KOLSTAD USN Commander Tom I. Kolstad of Palestine, Texas, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1950, and reported to USS ROCHESTER QCA-1241. In 1952 he WaS assigned to the commissioning crew of USS NORFOLK QDL-ll, and served as Electrical Officer and as Main Propulsion Assistant. His next tour was as Com- manding Officer of USS WHIPPOORWILL QMSC-2075, which he commissioned. During this tour he also served as Commander Mine Division THIRTY TWO. A tour in the Officer Distribution Section of the Bureau of Naval Personnel was fol- lowed by assignment as Operations Officer in USS TURNER JOY QDD-9515. In 1961, Commander Kolstad was ordered to the University of California, Berkeley, for graduate study in Political Science, obtaining a Master of Arts De- gree. He then reported to the Staff of Commander U.S. SEVENTH Fleet as Aide and Flag Secretary. Prior to assuming command of COCHRANE in January 1967, he served as Executive Officer of USS DALE QDLG-195. Upon being relieved as Commanding Officer of COCHRANE he reported to the office of Chief of Naval Personnel. Commander Kolstad is married to the former Carolyn Mears of Merion, Pennsylvania. They have one son and two daughters.
