gfaaa cjwhfsfory In September of 1958 we became sophomores. The officers selected to serve us were Marlin Sweigart, President, janet Yocom, Vice President, Carole Youndt, Secretary, and Gretta Nies, Treasurer. Under the advisorship of Mr. Gerald Albrecht, we selected our class colors - red and charcoal gray -- and ordered our class jackets. During the year we held dances to raise money. The year 1959-1960 saw the class of '61 together again. The officers elected for our junior year were Paul Cvrebinger, President, Marlin Sweigart, Vice President, Gretta Nies, Secretary, and Carole Youndt, Treasurer. Mrs. Kilkuskie was our class advisor. Cn November Z1 our class play, Come Out of the Closetn, was presented. During the year we sponsored two dances. One was held on December 24 and the other on March 5. By the close of the term most of us had received our class rings. The following September we entered our senior year. Our class officers were Paul Grebinger, President, Geraldine Henly, Vice President, Gretta Nies, Secretary, and Carole Youndt, Treasurer. Mr. Walter Siegfried was class ad- visor for our senior year. Not for school, but for life was chosen as our class motto, and the red rose as our class flower. Funds for our senior activities were provided by selling refreshments at football and basketball games and by sponsoring two dances. Our trip to Washington took place on March 10. Included in our trip were tours of the F.B.l. Building, Bureau of Printing and Engraving, the White House, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, and the changing of the guards at Arlington National Cemetery. In the evening we dined and saw a floor show in the Lotus Club. On March 25, we presented our senior class play, The Diary of Anne Frank . On April 28, we visited New York City. We toured the United Nations Building, Rockefeller Center, Chinatown, and saw a show in Radio City Music Hall. In the evening we dined at Toffenettils. Our senior year came to an end all too soon for our class of ninety-four. On June 2, the juniors held the prom with the theme of HStairway to the Stars . Music was provided by johnny Barker and his orchestra. After the prom we at- tended Club Calico at the Mt. Airy Fire Hall. Our Baccalaureate Service was held on june 4 in the high school auditor- ium. The Rev. Donald A. Storm gave the invocation and read the Scriptures. The Rev. John H. Rice spoke about A Solid Foundationw. Bishop Peter Gress offered prayer and pronounced the benediction. Commencement was held on june 6. The speaker was Dr. Roy McAuley, President-elect of Elizabethtown College. We, the class of 1961, will always remember and cherish our high school days. 19
