My ' WWW In the year of 1944 ezght shy and sllghtly fnghtened chxldren started to school They were Bonn1e Crownover Jay Jones Kathleen McK1bben Delbert Oldham Robert Parks Susan Swango Ronald Taylor and Marge Stoneberg Through trlals and tr1bulat1ons these exght have stuck together and formed a fr1endsh1p 1n thelr twelve years of school that w1ll last forever Jay Jones and Delbert Oldham proved to be very valuable to the school ln sports Del as the athlete and Jay as manager Jay d1d part1 c1pate 1n track Kathleen and Marge brrghtened the school wlth the1r mus1cal talent Both have lovely vo1ces as well as ab1l1ty to play many mstruments Susan and Bonme were actlve 1n gxrls' sports extra currlcular act1v1ty as well as speech league and essay contests Robert belng more car m1nded than sports mmded d1dn't part1 c1pate 1n any sports outslde of football There he proved to be a valuable asset to the reserve strength The second year of grade school brought us the gay frxendly Dlck Putz1er from Glenwood Four dash1ng young gentlemen Jolned the group 1n the th1rd grade to add many memor1es to our school days ' They were W1ll1am Phelps Fred Stephens Glenn Young and V1rg1l Young Bud came fromArkansas Fred and Glenn ln and around Eugene whlle V1rg1l came from Glenwood Gerry Farmer came to us from Cahfornla 1n the f1fth grade and helped make our sports more eventful Carolme Hall Jomed us 1n the s1xth grade to add humor laughter and good w1ll to the s1xth graders attendmg Coburg Grade School Carohne came to us from Spr1ngf1eld Catherme Hamxlton Jolned us 1n the seventh grade completmg the class unt1l the f1rst of our h1gh school years She attended Harr1sburg Jon Bowerman and Frank Cooke Jomned the class to start the new exc1t1ng adventure of gomg through h1gh school wzth us Jon left Roose velt m Eugene and Frank Calxforma to Jom us 1n our Freshman year Jon was noted for hxs track ab1l1ty whlle Frank was 1n great demand Navy Then 1n our semor year the boy of all boys Joxned us the humorous and darmg Duane Hooker Because of h1s ab1l1ty 1n wr1t1ng he won many awards and recogmtlon for h1mself and the school for h1s poetry and essays Thus the graduatlng class of 56 leaves the past behxnd, and must now turn to face the future 5- ,M N.-fs' '.'..L I A 'A , l l I for art work.
