On a bright cool summer day in September, twenty-one juniors came galloping down the road to old Coburg High camp. After being in school some time, their class officers were elected as follows: Former chief mule tender: William Reese, Jr. Second mule tender: Don Brechtel Mule train secretary: Alma Miller Mule train treasurer: Charles Phelps Pink and gray were chosen colors, and the white carnation, the chosen flower. Later during the school year, William thought he was working too hard, so he pulled off his cowboy boots and took off his ten-gallon hat to put on a soldier's uniform. After mid-term, Bob and Raymond Gielishlmoved away to attend school at the Pleasant Hill camping grounds. The junior'boys and girls revealed their athletic ability by having three boys and.two girls on the athletic squads. Alma Miller, Evelyn Bloom, and LenaCrownover proved to be successful yell leaders. Alma Millmrwas carnival princess and her escort was Bob Gielish. Several i11the class served on the r staf ' the Annual staff. f, another group, on 2 The sophomore class began its second year of the high school jour- ney with sixteen members riding the stage coach to Education. Their coach drive elected was Johnny Greengvice-driver, Dolores Coburngjour- ney-secretary, Jean Kennedyg and Wanda Crownover was chosen to handle the money bags. Myrtle Davenport, reporter, Barbara Reese and George Stovall, student council members, and Riley Wright, Red Cross represen- tative, were also elected. The class chose, as their colors,the rain- bow colors, and the sweetpea, their flower, while the motto is, 'Hard labor bringeth profit. They felt highly honored to have Edith Forcum crowned Queen of the 'MQ-SO Carnival.n Riley Wright served as pnince.
