Local FHA Chapter Attends The 1973 Future Homemakers of America for 1973 are Gloria Diaz, Dorothy Villegas, Linda Quintana. Mrs. Laura Sumner, Yolanda TrujiUo, Elma Espinosa, Katy Gomez, Alice Sandoval, Mrs. Bernadine Herring, Rosemary Gallegos, Olga Sedillos, and Rosemarie Reyes. Not pictured are Liz Nicholson, Anna TrujiUo, and Patsy McGehee. 1972—73 proved to be a busy year for the Future Homemakers of America. The installation of officers was held in early December, with guest speaker Susan Glenn of Silver City. FHA held two raffles during the 1972-73 school year. The Thanksgiving turkey was won by Rose- mary Gallegos. Winners for the stuffed animals of the Valentine raffle were Mary Ann Morales and Mrs. Christy Gallegos. Olga Sedillos, FHA vice-president, made and sent valentines to all faculty members. The cherry pie sale, which began the suc- ceeding week, made a S65 profit. Marie Francisco, stu- dent teacher, and the spon- sors escorted the girls to the district meeting in Animas. FJA Jours Silver City Daily Press Future Journalists of America is a club consisting of members from the newspaper and yearbook staffs. The members must obtain at least a B average in one of these classes to be eligible for the club. The B average also proves the student ' s interest in Journalism. FJA sponsored a sock-hop in early fall. This year the club took a tour of the Silver City Daily Press before the annual banquet held at the Penjamo restaurant. Mrs. Catherine Smith was honored with a corsage for being the FJA sponsor. New officers were elected for the coming year. FJA officers are Renee McSherry, president; Dawna Rivera, vice president; Cecilia Delgado, secretary; Irene Armendariz, treasurer. FJA members are Carol Brubaker, Patsy Moreno, Elva JaramUlo, Bobby Espinosa, Irene Armendariz, Monica Walter, Vangie Flores, Liz Valenzuela, Emilia Padilla, Allena Tow, Cecilia Delgado, Dolores Beltran, Ricky Shampers, Dawna Rivera, Patsy Salas, Denise Bleak, Renee McSherry, Kathy Shanks, Debbie Martinez, Vickie Graham, Anna Rodriguez, Oscar Molina, Delia Martinez.
