Haymes Help Staff This year Cobre High School ' s weekly newspaper, the War Whoop, consisted of a thirtyone staff members. With Mrs. Catherine Smith as sponsor and Mrs. Janis Haymes as her assistant, the staff produced editions, in- cluding a special issue for Christmas, Valentine ' s Day, and April Fool ' s Day. Every week members of the staff were busy get- ting pictures, dedications, sports stories, editorials, menus, announcements, feature stories, club news, class news, and polls in order to meet a Monday morning deadline. The paper was printed by the Silver City Daily Press and was sold in the classrooms during third period on Fridays. 36 War Whoop managerial staff includes Elmo Amador, illustrator; Ricky Schampers, sports editor; Denise Bleak, business manager; Cecilia Delgado, editor-in-chief; Renee McSherry, assistant editor; and Irene Armendariz, adver- tising manager.
