Patsy And Oscar Are Queen And King Twirps Patsy Salas and Oscar Dominguez were selected as queen and king twirps by the sponsor, tlie stu- dent council. May 1 1 Patsy and Oscar were honored and crowned with lettuce leaves to a ballon attached. During Twirp Week various dress days were held. They were kiddy day, crazy hat and shoe day, dress up, the fifties, and last of all, Sadie Hawkin ' s day. During activity period different contests were held. One was the calf-roping in which Sally Holland, Evelyn Pena, Oscar Dominguez, Roach Rivera, Larry Dominguez, Dor- othy Villegas, Patty Fulmer, Mary Sandoval, Patty Rogers, and Joe Chavira were contest- ants. Also, the boys ' tug-of-war which was judged by Rhonda and Cheryl Porter was taking place. The winning contestants were Tony Candelaria, Armando Marrujo, Charles Salas, Joe Chavira, Larry Dominguez, and Manuel Jimenez.

Club Officers, Rotarian, NCTE Nominees Honored The Central Optimist Club awarded outstanding ser- vice awards to Safety Council officers. They are Tom Stewart, past president, Donna Rivera, president, Albert Perez, vice president. Junior Rotarians selected to represent Cobre at the Rotary Club ' s monthly lunch- eon were Davy Munoz, Ernest Bustillos, Boyd Frost, and Larry Eby. These boys were asked by Mr. Frank Lopez to write a resume which was turned in to the Rotary Club. The National Council of Teachers of Enghsh nominees were Juanita Juarequi and Richard Fulmer. They were chosen on their ability to write clearly and effectively and on their concise apphca- tion of grammar usage and composition. Safety Council officers honored by Central Optimist Club were Albert Perez, vice-president, Donna Rivera, president, Tom Stewart, past president. Junior Rotarians for 1972-73 were Davy Munoz, Ernest Bustillos, Boyd Frost and Larry Eby. 12 NCTE nominees were Juanita Jaurequi and Richard Fulmer.
