Faculty tea, class elections, painting and lighting of the C, alumni coffee, open house, band jamboree, Christmas program, food baskets, and decora- tions, March of Dimes collections, snowboll formal, Twirp Week and school elections are among ths Student Council sponsored activities. The primary purposes of the Student Council are to create a better understanding between the students and administration and to provide training for future leoders. There were 25 members In Student Council this year. This included the new office of historian held by Emily Smith and two district officers, So- corro Ordonez, District Secretary, and Cello Foy, Notional Delegate. Emily was appointed by the executive council. Socorro and Cello were elected at the Southwestern District meeting. This entitled Cello to a trip to Lexington, Kentucky where she attended The National Association of Student Councils Convention. Anno Ramirez, Judy Gonzales, and Mario Parker welcome Mr and Mrs. Leo Sparks to open house at Cobre. Nicki Novotny and David Heffelfinger seem to enjoy themselves at the Snowball formal. 91

There were 16 staff members working on the 1966 Chieftain. Jobs ranged from selling ads and Chieftains to scheduling pictures and meeting deadlines. Almost all the pictures except for the individual class pictures were taken by students.
