Pep Band Earns New Jackets A 1 PEP BAND DIRECTOR: Mr. Al Henry . STUDENT DIRECTOR: Roberta Ranyan The Pep Band is in uniform this year since they purchased jackets for the first time. Their jackets are white with the red school emblem and traditional Chieftain on them. The band played during basketball season and participated in other activities. The Cobre High School Band traveled to El Paso on Ne w Year ' s Eve to par- ticipate in the 1966 Sun Carnival activities. Under arrangements made by the Sun Bowl committee, the boys stayed at Ft. Bliss and the girls at Ross Intermedi- ate School. The band members attended the tra- ditional Sun Bowl Game. Later that same evening they were guests at a dance given in their honor and for the purpose of se- lecting a Sun Carnival Band Sweetheart. Cobre ' s representative was Minda Holguin. The following day, after the three-and- a-half-mile march, sores and blisters were a com- mon misery among the group.
