Walker, principal of Cobre High School earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree at the University of New Mexico. He earned his doctorate at Columbia University where he was a research assistant in the Institute of Administrative Research. Dr. Walker is a member of the New Mexico State Committee of the North Central Association, a member of the New Mexico Coordinating Council of Colleges and Secondary Schools. He is chairman of the Professional Educational Leader ' s group of the Southwest District of New Mexico. 125

Competent Administrators Mr. Haskel B. Smith superintendent of the Cobra School System has degrees from New Mexico State University, New Mexico Western College and Eastern New Mexico Uni- versity. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts and an Education Specialist. He was one of twenty-five administrators selected from throughout the United States and Canada to attend a six weeks seminar at Columbia University. He has taught courses of Public School Law and Public School Finance at Western New Mexico Univer- sity and New Mexico State University. Mr. Smith is a mem- ber of the American Association of School Administrators and a life member of the National Education Association. He holds both Teacher ' s and Administrator ' s life certificates. Mr. Smith signs an Official Proclamation for Teaching Career Month while FTA members, Susy Dominguez, Irene Perez and Jucfy Klingeman look on. 124
